Here comes the USC bashing again...

Soon as they hit #1 in the polls I'd figure the HornFans.com would blow up the hatred again....and I was right.

I fully believe they should be #1 right now (and OSU should be #2) Georgia lost 2 key starters for the year.

What I don't get are the people here that bash USC bashing the media love affair or the actual program? Maybe I am from the west coast, but USC is an amazing program. To have a elite program every year with the talent they got says something. Plus the energy that Pete Carroll shows during the game is awesome. I am a firm believer that elite teams don't rebuild they reload, and USC does that year in and year out. Granted that doesn't necessarily translate into MNC's. But there track record in this decade is something else.

I hope to see another USC vs. Texas game

Hopefully I can get some honest opinions about this topic not that bias bs please.

I actually dont hate them at all, except for the constant need to be boxscore beautites all the time by keeping all the starters in and slinging it out. Well thats just USC.

We lost to Kansas State @ home by 20 pts and A&M the last two years...whats your point about Stanford?

Ugh it pains me how we lost to K-State @ home by that much

I think it stems from the '05 season , media love affair w USC.
Most feel that UT did not get the respect from most of the media and that they picked the wrong guy for the Heisman.
Since USC was the recipient of all the love, they became the focal point of the hate.
For me, Texas won, end of story. JMHO.

Oh no they 'ran up' the score...I'm sorry but when people say that kind of stuff they sound like a baby. But then again that is why your a fan and not a player/coach. Coaches/Players usually never say anything about getting their asses handed to them...if they did they should do something to stop it.

Actually some players do via illegal chop blocks and dirty tactics. Some like me think it sucks and others say hey, if you don't want ot be chop blocked you should not run up the score or be on the field.

There is class, there is ***. I also think it is ******** of a team that is losing by a way out of hand score to keep trying trick plays and gunning for scores when it is obvious the other squad has its third string and walk-ons in . At that point I hope for a return of the starters to rub their noses in it.

But coaches like Mack Brown and others are above that, they have class. Besides, that is when your players get chop blocked illegally.

Were I a pollster I would pay attention to teams that pad box scores and penalize them with a lack of a vote. I would in turn reward teams who pull back a bit but could have been douches. They get votes. But I am not a pollster.

im aware of what we did last year. you are doing what you are talking about in your post, talking about usc on hornfans.

That is one of the many reasons. I also watch a ton of games from around the country every single week. That is another thing that would prevent me from being a pollster.

Coaches poll, useless at any time of the season. Coaches even admit they don't watch the games. They have somebody else who likely does not watch the games fill them out for them.

I find that to be uphauling.

some people are ******* idiots. there was one topic on this page with 4 comments about southern cal, and some "people" just cant stand it that were not talking about them. nice try, move on please.

There is a love of media love for USC, though I fail to see why that bothers anybody. Should VY have won the hypesman? Probably. Still, I don't have any great dislike for USC. There are a lot of folks in burnt orange that need to relax a bit. Just smile and think about the scoreboard.

Never hated USC. Liked them more since the '05 Rose Bowl because they were so good. It made us look better for beating them

I want to play the SEC headliner.

I've said elsewhere that I think USC is arguably the best team in the country right now. I don't really care for them mainly due to the media hype, but Pete Carroll himself seems like a decent enough guy. I am completely neutral as to their success except when it directly affects the Longhorns in any way.

Where is the USC bashing? I don't see it...except here in this thread for those who say USC is boxscore beauties and pad their stats. HA.

USC almost NEVER runs up the score. However, Pete does let the backups actually play instead of having them take a ******* knee in the third quarter on every offensive down until the end of the game.

What's with fans who always call out another school for running it up when there's still an entire quarter or more left to play???? Should teams up by 30 or more points just play all defense in the second half and forfeit their offensive possessions? Should the backups have to run up the middle every play for an entire quarter?

Leaving your starters in with like 5 minutes left in the game and throwing down the field when up by 40 is running it up. Letting your backups actually do something other than halfback dive with an entire quarter or more left in the game is not running it up. Doing anything other than taking a knee when you can run the clock out is running it up, not letting your starters finish a drive if it goes into the start of the 4th quarter before putting the second and third string in.

A good example of running it up, see Oklahoma in 2004 vs Nebraska, with less than a minute left Jason White/Adrian Peterson and the rest of the starters were still trying to score, they were stopped at around the Nebraska 15 or so and turn over on downs but they could've just taken a knee but didn't. Also Spurrier was notorious for throwing deep with a minute left in the game even when Florida was up by a lot.

It's all a bunch of crybaby ******** anyway. If a team doesn't want them to score, then stop them. And if a coach is all pissy that another team ran it up, he should be more worried about why his team sucks so bad and why they're getting blown out in the first place.

Ludicrous anyone would say SC runs it up, if you only knew how many boring *** 2nd halves we've had to endure over the last 6 years...

I've got no problem w/ SC. Based on this past weekend's games, I think they deserve to be ranked# 1. Who else would you put there?

It's a long season, way too many folks get their panties in a wad over pre-November rankings.

I have no problem with USC the team.

Mine is with the ESPN love affair with them that cost the best player in the country the Heisman.

Them sending Shelley Smith out there to basically live in the Trojan locker room and actively root for one college team seems over board.

The pimping of Reggie Bush's performance over Fresno ******* State, (making Fresno State out to be the ******* '75 Steelers) when Vince had better numbers vs. Ok. State ON THE SAME DAY....this is the **** that pisses me off.

Not USC itself, I don't think that they are involved at all. LA doesn't have an NFL team, so ESPN needs that market share somehow watching something.

What TomTerrific said.

Bush was the most overhyped/overrated player in NCAA history.

I have no problem with USC at all and they should be number one because they actually played somebody in the opener. I wish all pollsters would consider this when voting. They also have some of the best unis in all of college football.

Your thread is an epic fail by the way.

I am of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with running up the score except when playing a D-1aa opponent or a severely undermatched D-1a opponent. If we would have scored 80 on FAU I would have no problem, they are a bowl team from last year, have a legendary coach, and are predicted to win their conference this year. If we can beat Baylor 100-0, I'm all for it. If they can't hang, its not our fault. Are they players supposed to stop trying hard?
