Ginsburg

I mourn for her life because she was a human being with dignity.

But I will never honor or celebrate her accomplishments. She harmed our society and eroded our system of government.

There are 2 months to get a replacement in before the election. If you don't do it now, you aren't trying, and you don't deserve 1 vote.

If Trump loses, he is fighting many lawsuits. Pence will pardon him to eliminate Federal issues.

You do know that if Trump loses, the guy who beats him becomes President, not the losing President's VP, right? Biden would have to pardon him (not likely), not Pence.

F cancer. Prayers to her family and she should be honored for her accomplishments.

I would honor that she came from basically nothing and reached the top of the legal world. I might even honor a few decisions she handed down. However, I don't honor her judicial philosophy. It was a disgrace to the rule of law and should be called out as such.

I think that Trump goes with Amy Coney Barrett, or ACB, to replace RBG. The question is the timing. Trump holds all the cards, and inadvertently, RGB — who hated Trump — may actually help him by her untimely death.

(Let me add that while I agreed with none of her positions or the fact that she was an unashamed liberal Democrat, she was also one H of a woman.)

All of the anti-Trump strategies — Covid, the economy, he’s a racist — have been superseded by the passing of RBG. The narrative has changed. Again, advantage Trump.

Some have suggested tonight that any RINOS who vote against a Trump nominee will pay a price, now or in 2022. I tend to agree. The other point I heard which makes sense is that this event has “nationalized” Senatorial and House elections. So perhaps some vulnerable Republican candidates may be strengthened by the electorate’s broader perspective. McSally in AZ and Graham in SC are two possible examples.

So when does he pull the trigger, and how does McConnell play it? It’ll be riveting. We may also see more unhinged behavior on the Left which, I believe, would push more voters to Trump.

i puzzled over this post, and came up with ... Trump loses November 3; he is so afraid of his future life (you know, the LAWSUITS), that he resigns immediately, so Pence is President for a month, during which Pence pardons citizen Trump.

oh and, Pence refuses to leave office

Today’s political problems are built on vehemently disagreeing with the other side to the point of personal hate. She believed what she believed and acted accordingly. There is little she believed that I agree with, but to reach the level of a Supreme Court Justice is an accomplishment. She was not a justice during Roe v Wade. No doubt she supported it which is one reason I didn’t like her personally.

I have watched loved ones die of cancer. Nobody deserves the pain and suffering it delivers. Her death ups the ante in the upcoming election. I’ll give it a few days before I jump on the wagon.

1) I’m sure almost everyone has a family member or friend that has died of cancer. Of course it’s horrible.
2) Ginsberg supported the mass murder of babies. Hitler believed what he believed and acted accordingly. I’m not going to celebrate his rise to Chancellor.

You be you, I’ll be me. Being a liberal does not equate to being Hitler.

From another board I'm on:

"The time between the formal Supreme Court nomination of Sandra Day O’Connor and her final Senate confirmation was 33 days. (Aug. 19-Sep. 21, 1981).

For John Paul Stevens, the formal process took only 19 days (Nov. 28-Dec. 17, 1975).

Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s formal Supreme Court nomination was sent to the Senate on June 22, 1993. Her confirmation hearing began on July 20, and the Senate voted to confirm her on August 3. The entire process took 42 days.

There are 46 days until the election.

So, if a replacement isn't confirmed quickly we go into what is most likely to be a contested election with a 4-4 court. This is going to get really interesting."

That's all well and good, and I agree to some extent, however, the way she hung on to the job for political reasons, sleeping thru hearings and such, tarnished her image to me.

Well, whomever Trump nominates better not have attended any parties in high school where alcohol was consumed, or cracked any jokes about Long Dong Silver.

American jurisprudence is at stake after all.

I read that in her many decades as an appellate judge she only had one black clerk. Can this be true?

affirmative action for you and me but merit selection for her?

wtf?

her great accomplishment was being able to see what she wanted in the constitution as opposed to what was written. Which is nice.

Obama is out there saying that Trump MUST follow RBG's Order of waiting until after election.:brickwall:
F Obozo. Of course he will say that. Remember, Obozo, the election is over and it had consequences.

It's hilarious. Does he think Trump and McConnell will wait because HE says so? What a freaking moron.

"Mr. Presdential" himself. Obama is a prick. So was McCain, but imagine Trump saying this type of thing to anyone.
