Facebook has been cooperating with their national police --

" The country’s federal police agency – the Bundeskriminalamt, or BKA – said in a press release that it was the first nationwide use of police force to combat hate speech on the internet.

In December, the trio of internet giants agreed with Germany and pledged to delete hate speech from their services within 24 hours to help fight a rising tide of online racism in the wake of the country’s influx of refugees.

Facebook, for one, for months had been laying the groundwork to make 24-hour take-down a reality.

Under pressure from Germany, the company launched a hate-speech task force in September to deal with anti-refugee posts.

In fact, before it even sat down with German Justice Minister Heiko Maas in September, the company had agreed to do three things in the wake of the previous month’s anti-immigration violence.

Namely, Facebook promised to:

Partner with FSM, a German self-regulatory group of multimedia service providers.

Start the hate speech task force, working with nonprofits, companies, and government officials, including Maas.

Establish a campaign to promote “counter speech” in Germany, drawing in experts from the UK and Scandinavia to develop ways to combat racism and xenophobia through discussions on social media.

Facebook, along with Twitter and YouTube, are also now facing legal action in France over hate speech.

The BKA said that Wednesday’s raids in Germany were meant to confront what it calls a substantial rise in “verbal radicalism” and related offenses."
 
They apparently actually found and tried two men for the New Year's Eve sex assaults in Cologne -- and gave them.... wait for it.... suspended sentences and community service! That'll teach 'em. That will protect German women.

This sort of thing (suppression of free speech) was designed to prevent the resurgence of Nazism after WWII. It may have been appropriate at one point, but that threat is long gone in Germany. Now it's just a pretext to impose a nutty PC agenda. They should reassign all of these people to finding terrorists and not worry about a few people saying not-so-nice things about Muslims.

I should know them better than I do, but from what I hear from Germans, they're very strict. If you want a gun, you obviously need a license (which has to be renewed every few years), and the process is pretty extensive and can be denied pretty easily. One of the big requirements is that you prove a need for the weapon. I've heard that the easiest justification to get a gun is for hunting, but that obviously limits what kind of gun you can get and where you can have it. If you have a hunting license and are carrying the weapon through downtown Hamburg, don't expect "die Polizei" to be sympathetic. If you want to carry a gun for protection, just a generalized fear of being killed isn't enough. You have to prove that you're in serious danger and that the danger is specific and unique to you. Obviously, so-called assault weapons are out of the question (unless of course, you're a terrorist, and then the fear of being called a racist trumps the need to enforce the gun laws).

I've been told that applications for hunting licenses have gone up sharply since the "refugee" (in quotes because most of them aren't true refugees) crisis began. It's remarkable how Merkel flooded the country with Muslims, and suddenly Germans are developing a strong interest in hunting.
 
Ok, it's not as noteworthy as axe wielders, but I'm at Kaiserslautern Hauptbahnhof and had a few beers waiting for my train. And I can't even "use the facilities," and Germans wouldn't do this. They're rule-followers, and even those who aren't wouldn't break the rules for no reward.

This is sure true for me. I am 100% German ancestry (but 4th generation Texan) and that would be the most-often used adjective my friends would use to describe me - rule-follower.

Almost all Germans are. Usually that's a good thing, but of course, it can be a bad thing if Adolf Hitler is making the rules. Nevertheless, even Germans who will break rules aren't stupid. They're not going to break them for something that doesn't tangibly benefit them like trashing a public bathroom.

Interestingly, they're not as "trans-friendly" here. If you actually looked like a chick, you could do it, but I couldn't fool anybody. Also, they have bathroom attendants here, so you couldn't just discretely go in. Somebody would see you.

Pretty stuck-up for a country that allows nude sunbathing in public.

Ahhh...ran into that in Romania. Their it was usually some really old lady sitting in a closet inside the bathroom. It made me appreciate not having to pay to use a bathroom here in the US.

I didn't like it initially, but I'm used to it. It isn't very expensive (€.50), and it almost guarantees that you'll have a clean bathroom. Also, they don't charge everywhere. Most restaurants don't charge. Retailers that are especially customer-friendly (such as IKEA) don't, but most do.

I wouldn't say they diss them. They just try to use common sense on this sort of issue. If you look like a chick, you can go in the women's bathroom. If you whip your junk out in there and start showing it to people to prove that you're not, then they're going to have a problem with you.
 
Chuck Todd chided Trump this morning on MTP that Trump is heartless for saying he will stop Syrian refugees etc from coming into our country since these are people ONLY fleeing to afety.
So the Syrian axe killer fled to Germany for safety? Or the Afghan train killer?
Trump said we, the world including Arab states should create and fund safe places in their own country. Makes sense doesn't it?
 
If we let them in, we may become heartless due to an axe attack.

What more could it possibly take to stop the Obama administration's dangerous immigration actions?

There is no logical reason to justify their idiocy.
