General Presidential Campaign: Trump vs Hillary

Here is the Daily Mail theory on what is going on with Comey/FBI this time

"James Comey's decision to revive the investigation of Hillary Clinton's email server and her handling of classified material came after he could no longer resist mounting pressure by mutinous agents in the FBI, including some of his top deputies, according to a source close to the embattled FBI director.

'The atmosphere at the FBI has been toxic ever since Jim announced last July that he wouldn't recommend an indictment against Hillary,' said the source, a close friend who has known Comey for nearly two decades, shares family outings with him, and accompanies him to Catholic mass every week.

'Some people, including department heads, stopped talking to Jim, and even ignored his greetings when they passed him in the hall,' said the source. 'They felt that he betrayed them and brought disgrace on the bureau by letting Hillary off with a slap on the wrist.'

According to the source, Comey fretted over the problem for months and discussed it at great length with his wife, Patrice.

He told his wife that he was depressed by the stack of resignation letters piling up on his desk from disaffected agents. The letters reminded him every day that morale in the FBI had hit rock bottom....."

I do not think she should be allowed to do this
She has the same rights as any other citizen
However, she should be able to assert this right AND hold this position

She's up **** creek. Even if she wins, she will be forced to step down. God knows what they will find.

I am actually semi surprised Hillary etc is this careless
Or maybe it is arrogance. After all they have decades of getting away with crap.
Don't you know the DNC is working feverishly to get something else on Trump to take the heat off Hillary?

What if she wins but GOP holds the house and senate and she nominates a Supreme Court justice? GOP can say no hearings until investigation is over since it is not right for the president to nominate judges while under investigation. Smart people are beginning to realize the implication of this.

She could be the first woman President to pardon a woman President

I doubt there is a single person on planet earth who doubts she would, if given the chance, pardon herself. This is how the Clintons roll

She's not above pardoning herself, but that wouldn't impact congressional impeachment and removal powers. However, I'm sure Senate Democrats would rally around her out of partisanship and keep her from being removed as they prevented Bill from being removed. We'd hear the phrase "it doesn't rise to the level of impeachment" again as we did in 1998.

"......Investigators found 650,000 emails on a laptop that they believe was used by former Rep. Anthony Weiner and his estranged wife Huma Abedin, a close Clinton aide, and underlying metadata suggests thousands of those messages could have been sent to or from the private server that Mrs. Clinton used while she was secretary of state, according to people familiar with the matter....."

"..... The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Mr. McCabe’s wife, Jill McCabe, received $467,500 in campaign funds in late 2015 from the political-action committee of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime ally of the Clintons and, until he was elected governor in November 2013, a Clinton Foundation board member.

In February of this year, Mr. McCabe ascended from the No. 3 position at the FBI to the deputy director post. When he assumed that role, officials say, he started overseeing the probe into Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server for government work when she was secretary of state....."

Well, heck it's been a long time but didn't Bill basically get impeached for lying/hiding under oath that he had fooled around with Monica Lewinski?

It was debatable whether that was impeachable.

Criminally deleting thousands of emails under subpoena to hide from investigation into other felony crimes really is a different fact pattern.

I think a lot of regular people could see themselves in Bill's situation; not as many are going to identify with Hillary's.

I've said before that I think most Dems would still vote for Clinton even if it meant she had to run the country from a prison cell. They knew all about Bill & Monica when they elected him for a second term.

I heard today on the radio that 5% of Dems polled said this MIGHT cause them to reconsider. Among Repubs, Dems, and Independents, 21% said they MIGHT rethink their positions.

We'll see. It's up to the American people. If they want someone to be President that's more corrupt than a Banana Republic Dictator, that's their prerogative.

The FBI investigation will help Trump with undecideds, independents, and GOP who was thinking of voting for Hillary.

Right. Doesn't seem to matter how bad an incumbent may be, see Ray Nagin after Katrina still being re-elected.

Pants on Fire II

Brazile 2 weeks ago: "I never had access to questions and would never have shared them with the candidates if I did"

Apparently Huma saved thousands of Hillary emails in a folder she named "Life Insurance"

Why do you suppose she chose that name for that folder?

Looks like Roland Martin's pants are on fire as well
Here, Brazile promised to send more townhall questions as she got them

That's true. It almost doesn't matter what she does, because of who the opponent is. This article explains the mindset. However, despite what the article says, if the GOP had nominated someone else, I think most partisan Democrats would still stand by her. They'd be calling Marco Rubio a big nightmare too, but it would ring hollow with all but the most partisan of voters.

They knew all about Bill & Monica when they elected him for a second term.

Not so. The "relationship" was going on during the 1996 campaign, but the story didn't break until a good 14 months after the election. I remember the timing well, because I actually dated a chick who was a White House intern when the story broke and turned into a scandal. She was hotter than Monica, so yes, I did ask her the obvious question.

Deez was...ahem...one degree from Slick Willie. I feel like I need to sterilize my screen or get shots just reading your posts now.

Here's a good article about how bad Hillary's presidency will be. My favorite line:

You can blame GOP partisanship and hatred of Hillary, or you can blame Hillary's own Clintonesque urge to play fast and loose with the rules and the truth. Or you can be faithful to reality and blame both.
