Hmmmmmm...
Better add to that job description: "Watch games from the press box, develop and present adjustments to the head coach, coordinators, and team at halftime."

Should have worn a Baltimore Orioles cap.LHN just showed Patterson in CDC's suite at the KSU-Texas game. Wearing a white Texas windbreaker.
Should have worn a Baltimore Orioles cap.
Chop, you disappoint me. I expected you to go for the cheap laugh and say he looked fat and happy. They showed Patterson at the basketball game tonight. He looked relaxed and happy.
Should have worn a Baltimore Orioles cap.
Might as well have...and got the benefit of leaving and missing that mess.![]()
That'll get you thrown out.
HIC,I answered the job posting and applied, so of course nothing is official.
Which airport, hombre? IAH is near The Woodlands. Hobby, not so much.HIC,
Speaking about jobs, I see that your airline will start flying to Houston in May. If you have a layover maybe Sabre, you and me can have dinner.![]()

IAH is better for me. I don't know about Sabre. I can go to both. That sounds great!
We will now fly out of both, apparently.
My hope is that he is coaching up coaches.Just on the news. Officially signed as a special assistant to head coach. Whatever that may be.
My hope is that he is coaching up coaches.
Patterson does not want to be on the road recruiting. He does not want to deal with other aspects of the job of defensive coordinator, or "assistant head coach in charge of defense" as you called it. He doesn't want 18 hour workdays all year long. He wants to do more than just a traditional analyst, and said he wants to do for Sark what Dick Tomey did for Mack Brown.Isn't that the head coaches job? All these assistants to assistants to assistants are just bloated useless overhead. We consistently lose a lot of games with way too many people on payroll. I mean, I'm not paying for it, but why waste the money? If we wanted Patterson then we fire coach K and make Patterson the assistant head coach in charge of defense or something.
I think you nailed it Sangre, and I like it. Never thought I'd say that about Patterson, but I do.Patterson does not want to be on the road recruiting. He does not want to deal with other aspects of the job of defensive coordinator, or "assistant head coach in charge of defense" as you called it. He doesn't want 18 hour workdays all year long. He wants to do more than just a traditional analyst, and said he wants to do for Sark what Dick Tomey did for Mack Brown.
So that means *if we want his help* we create a position that doesn't actively recruit, but may advise on kids to pursue (or not pursue). We create a position that advises, self scouts, and does a lot of what Jerry Kill did for Patterson at TCU. We let him enjoy a well paid, semi-retirement role, and we take advantage of his wealth of knowledge and experience without asking him to go beyond what he is willing to do.
Or, we fire coach K, try to force the DC role on Patterson and watch him walk away too.
I hope you are right and agree with your assertion. However, I am sure we all know that this situation has CDC's finger prints all over it. My guess is the true motivation lies there.I can see how an offensive guru at head coach would want to learn from how a defensive guru and head coach manages game plans, defensive strategies, and performance improvement.
so maybe coach K is at risk, but mostly I think this is helping Sark learn how to be the head coach in a way that improves the defense WITH COACH K.
CdC wants to win. (Yes he likes the additional dollars, but winning is his main goal.)I hope you are right and agree with your assertion. However, I am sure we all know that this situation has CDC's finger prints all over it. My guess is the true motivation lies there.
