I hope we don't negate his arm by only having him throw a bunch of 6 yard outs and screens. Our O could be amazing with the way he can stretch the field vertically as well as tuck it and run.
Nice game for GG. Very exciting to think of him running the offense for the burnt orange after another year or two of experience and growth. I don't keep up enough with heights and weights of players, but how does he compare to Tebow? Especially back when Tebow was being recruited out of high school. Is there any validity to that comparison?
I'm wondering though, when I had to move from Austin in '04 Westlake was virtually unbeatable and had been for years. I haven't kept up since but I see they've now lost their first two games already, albeit to good schools. Has Westalke dropped off quite a bit the last few years or was it just unique circumstances of this season's schedule?
In HS, Tebow was about 6'3 220 of solid muscle. He benched 185 38 times as a junior. He was (and is) a power runner, not a speed guy, turning in a 4.69 at a Nike camp.
Gilbert is listed at between 6'4 200 and 6'4 210, and he's more of the skinny type who will fill out. He's not the kind of guy who's gonna run you over, but if he sees room to run, he might be quicker than Tebow to hit the hole.
But I'm guessing Gilbert isn't gonna be rushing for 20 TD's a season in his college days. They are COMPLETELY different quarterbacks.
My favorite throw(s) is when he rolled to the left and fired the ball to a receiver cutting to the left sideline (remember he is right-handed). His footwork is pretty impressive for a high school kid.
