Vince was like looking at a jet airplane flying on the ground doing combat maneuvers.
Gilbert has his own style and just as impressive. When he throws the ball, it's most confident and impressive feeling I've ever gotten watching a player at this stage in his career. I honestly think he will end this year as the most valuable high school player.
I hope beyond all hopes, the Texas coaching staff plays him all through his freshman year, so it's not a repeat of Colt having to play cold after VY left. Gilbert needs to start his soph year as if he's a senior. If he stays those hree seasons, you will not be crazy to bet on a 3-peat and load the trophy case with more glass footballs.
So from what I gather GG had three rushing TDs and one throwing. Is he really that good of a rushing QB (a la Leak), or does he pull down and run when the pocket collapses and/or no WRs are open (a la Colt)?
Had a lot of fun, Gilbert is great and throws are crisp and accurate, His WR had some drops and bad timing routes but he is solid. Kelley has potential but needs to grow into the role. Im impressed
Interesting contrast...Matt Barkley night before last, and Gilbert last night...I'm happy with Gilbert coming to UT! Both are very good, but Gilbert's gonna be a great fit at the forty acres.
I know he scored at least one of his rushing TD's on a QB sneak. He is probable one of their biggest guys, so giving him the ball on the goaline makes sense.
At 6'4" and 210, he's a prototype college QB and when he fills out, it will be awesome. He's already got good arm strength and a great touch. He'll hook 'em!
i was sitting on the westlake side wearing LT red... i hope someone from westlake will post the picture. the chaps run thru paper that read, "don't mess with westlake" on a Texas flag design. the idiots had it upside down.
