Fire Herman now. I’m done.

Actually, for the most part, our line blocked very well. We did not need an elusive QB Saturday. We needed someone to find open receviers and throw accurate passes to them. We have that, we score 50 even with the bad play-calling.

What makes Ehlinger so troubling is how he mostly was not pressured and still could not find or hit open receivers. Maryland stopped bothering to rush because they knew he could not hit his passes. Other opponents will focus on stopping the run on 1st and 2nd, then make Sam try to throw into heavy coverage on 3rd. It will generally work except maybe with Baylor, Kansas and Tulsa. I would say “Tech” but even their bad defense pulled it off last year.

What makes me think we are kind of hopeless is with Ehlinger starting, the pass is taken away and it is very easy to game-plan how to stop us. Go all in on the run and you stop an offense with Ehlinger at the helm.
My sentiments exactly. Thank you htown

I keep seeing this on many threads and always wanted to say "What were you watching?" until I realized the answer is obvious - we've all been watching Texas. Compared to Texas last year, that was indeed excellent blocking. In a vacuum though, it was still mediocre, except when they were rushing 2 and dropping 9, which was a case of them badly outmaneuvering us coach vs coach as we had no answer for this. When they wanted to make the QB leave the safety of the pocket, they usually could.

Well Mack Brown's last three years were 8 wins, 9 wins and 8 wins. We followed that with 6 wins, 5 wins, 5 wins and 7 wins, so firing a national title winning head coach set us back at least 4 years.

Assuming Mack was going to keep going 8-9-8. I don't think he was. Maybe he would have had. In 2010 we thought he was going to continue losing just 1-3 games a year.

If Charlie and Shawn Watson could win 6 and 5, Mack Brown, Major Applewhite and Greg Robinson could win 8-9.

I'm not taking the bait. Gonna stay true to self ... short of criminal activity ... or highly immoral activity (cheating on wife) ... he should get 3 full seasons. (what Charlie got) Then we re-evaluate.
As frustrated as I am with last week’s game I think the majority of the cooler head posters here agree. Coaching-carousel will keep us in the wilderness for another 5 - 10 years. That being said, I hope TH’s arrogance during pressers is more of a show for his team and he’s a lot more humble and realistic in the locker room

Fair point on Greg Robinson especially, but our defense mostly wasn't the problem in 2014. Even if Mack had stayed I was predicting we'd drop off by several games after 2013 though. Doesn't mean I was right, but I had seen nothing to make me think we were going to get better.
