Finally! It's Game Week...Predict the Score vs Louisiana

This game makes me nervous, They are a quality team who will come in with a huge chip on their shoulder. I think Bijan is the difference maker. 28-24 Horns.

I will make my prediction later this week but I always look forward to the opening week. I didn't see anyone else start a thread for opening week and decided to start a thread.

With that, make your prediction and may the best poster win.

31-20 Horns.
:bevo:

If we lose this game, we won’t, but if we did, Sark should IMMEDIATELY, go on the “warm” seat.

I don't have an issue with that. Herman basically did after the 2017 Maryland game, and that team was arguably a lot worse than 2021 ULL.

But, I think Sark also has it in him to actually learn from that experience. Whereas Strong would say "we've got to get better" and Herman would say "football is hard," Sark could use it as fuel to figure out the system, schemes, and players who are underperforming.

In Mack's 2nd season, we lost to NC State in the opener due to asinine special teams play and untimely turnovers. So for the next couple of weeks, we turned it around into becoming one of the best ST performers in the nation and committed far fewer turnovers, as Major was the conference POY. Treating rough games as a learning experience instead of a "sky is falling" mentality hasn't been our strong suit.

Bijan gets a good push in the Heisman hype discussions...three touchdowns, including a breakaway of 55+ yards. Each QB sees some meaningful time and adds a total of three touchdowns between them. Dicker the Kicker does his thing, with six XPM and a meaningless 45 yarder to end the first half.

Unfortunately, someone throws a pick six from our side of the field. Add in two late scores against the second team to go with three field goals and a decent drive.

Carry the one...add...square root...oh wait, don't need that...looks like...

Looks like 45 for the good guys against 37 for ULa...

Books will be happy since the late score meant ULa covers...some will be happy because Texas won...some will be unhappy because we gave up more than 30 to what is viewed as a sub-par opponent.

I have every prediction in a spreadsheet for those that made one.

I figured that I would determine the winner by the following criteria:

Predict correct winner

Difference of actual score to predicted score for each team. For example, final score is 34 - 13 predicted score is 30 - 20, calculation is 4+7=11

Tie breaks goes to total points

No bonus points for analysis that proves to be spot on?

Sure we can do some bonus points like +5 towards overall season record.

I was planning on posting a Top 10 every week. Basically, 1st place will get 10 points, 2nd place 9 points, etc.

Three of us predicted 38-17: Creek, FWHORN, and I.

I guess we win.
