Thank you Clendon.

I'll add my thanks to the list, Clendon.

I'm betting Jordan ends up at Ohio St but would be thrilled to be mistaken and see him at the 40. This is shaping up to be a spectacular class.

No problem, guys. We appreciate you checking in at InsideTexas.com when you have a chance. Hopefully we'll have lots of good news to report over the next few weeks on Hicks/Jeffcoat/White, and maybe others...

Hicks Set For Another Official Visit
Posted by Bill Kurelic on Nov 24, 2009 at 11:14 am

Linebacker Jordan Hicks (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), the No. 2 prospect on the ESPNU 150, is set for official visit No. 3 this weekend.

"He is headed to USC this weekend," Lakota West Coach Larry Cox said. "He leaves Friday morning."

Hicks has previously made official visits to Ohio State and Texas. He also has an official visit set to Florida for the weekend of Dec. 12.

When asked if Hicks will make an official visit to Alabama, Cox said, "That's on hold at this point."

Hopefully he will be in front of the TV Thursday night to watch the Horns manhandle the Ags. Give him something to think about on that long flight west.

USC got cancelled from what I gather.

I think this is between Texas and UF.

He is not looking at any school in the midwest or northeast save tOSU. The Big X is a premiere league for LBs and tOSU is at the top of that list. If he weren't in Ohio due to a relatively recent change of address, he wouldn't be looking at the Buckeye program at all. The kid wants to return to the South and has a standing affinity for the Horns that goes back a ways.

Perhaps just as importantly, the depth charts between UT and tOSU are not similar, though Hicks stated otherwise in a fairly recent interview (he is taking depth chart into consideration). tOSU will return two starters, on starter who was injured off the field and DNP this year, and several other guys with experience and PT (a couple who were also 5-stars). I can't see how he would look at that depth chart as 'favorable' and I don't hear much in the way of encouraging words coming out of the Ohio insider tracks. I think he does not want to stay in Ohio and will do so only if his mother cannot leave and he cannot handle leaving her.

i hope you're right but in cases like this tend to think the home state wins out. i see it as horns and buckeye's with the latter getting the prize.

either way, seems like a terrific prospect and a good kid. would absolutely love to see him on the 40. also, to the extent that depth chart is an issue, and he's doing the appropriate comparisons, we look even better. he def would have a more favorable situation at UT.

would love to hear something soon

Looks like Charlie Strong is going to be hired by Louisville tomorrow. Think that will hurt Florida's chances?

Not trying to start any kind of regional pissing match, but few places (and no place in TX) has the kind of weather that we have in SoCal. And at the time of my post, the weather was exceptional, even for SoCal.

I hope the kid chooses Texas, as he seems to be a quality young man and a fine football player. And I'm sure that Austin weather looks mighty fine to an Ohio kid. But San Diego it aint.

You forgot taxes and housing prices. With all that said, the weather and entrepreneurship/innovation (in northern California) is very good. I think in a few years I am coming back to Austin but if the housing prices in Cali keep falling, I may change my mind. The key is to have the money to live near to where you work.

Bad day for Mack to be flying in to Cincinnati. In Louisville (1.5 hrs away), there are suppose to be winds up to 60mph and the temp is dropping something like 7 degrees each hour from the mid 50s earlier this morning to the mid 20s this afternoon.

Dick Butkus & his son were also at Hicks' school yesterday to present him with this years HS Butkus award. (& hopefully to tell him to listen to whatever Mack says)

I can't remember the last time a kid had such a lockdown on his recruiting.

The insiders at the Ohio State sites say almost nothing about this kid (recently most of it has been favoring Texas as Muschamp apparently has a strong relationship with the kid -- for some reason I get the impression the relationship doesn't stem solely from the recruiting process, but I wouldn't put much into that detail).

With Strong out at Florida I would say UT is in the driver's seat. May not hear anything about it, but it is also likely that UT has been in the driver's seat for a while. Kid's on lockdown.

66 degrees and you have to bundle up?

Yeah. You're right. Austin weather is much, much better than San DIego.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA
