FERGIE

Anybody remember when the halftime entertainment was the LONGHORN BAND? A Super Bowl back in the 70's, can't remember which year, I think the Vikings were playing.

The halftime show yesterday was horrible. But it is hard to tell whether it was the Black Eyed Peas or the sound problems that made it so bad. Maybe the band was trying to make up for the sound issues and it caused them to sound worse.
But I have the greatest solution for this problem. They should move away from having singers and have the Victoria's Secret Fashion show during half time at the super bowl. Or at least a shortened version of it.

Wow...no mention of the home abortion kit that was Fergie singing Sweet Child of Mine???

tech and audio were atrocious. half of the "V" in the "LOVE" LED display did not work. Mixing was terrible (did they not rehearse and set their mixing board? this is mixing 101).

They had no business doing "Sweet Child of Mine"

Will-I-Am was just about the only highlight. I did somewhat enjoy the "Tron" aspect of the show.

I agree with Texas Fight...his lineup would have been so awesome there would have been no need to play the 2nd half.

A Superbowl in Texas should feature Geoge Strait. I can guarantee you he would get the words right in the National Anthem if he was asked to sing it. Martina McBride did the Natl. Anthem at the AFC Championship and she was freaking outstanding.

i liked that Prince performance a few years back. Didn't see that mentioned (but maybe that's because I'm the only one who liked it).
the thing with last night was the production. the sound was coming in and out and then as another poster pointed out some of the lights weren't even working. i was excited when i heard the GNR and saw slash but then it was just not very good at all.
i'd say overall it was not very good but then again, i don't really give a **** about it and so don't hold it against the organizers.

Wow. I actually kind of like the Peas and i thought the show was about a C-. The people in suits was actually ok. Visually the show was pretty cool.

The singing was terrible. The sound mixing was terrible. They could not get the volume even remotely correct. Fergie singing Sweet Child and trying to mimic Axle was terrible. Usher was terrible. fergie screaming her lyrics was terrible. Sheesh.

the sound was bad for tv because of the audio hook-up but i do not think the sound was that bad at the stadium. i think fergie did a cover of sweet child o mine a few years ago. it wasnt that bad. it is what it is. U2 and Springsteen did the best two ive seen in recent years.

blame Axel and Slash for whoring their 23 year old song to whomever wants to sing it.

They could not care less apparently, they get paid regardless of how badly it gets replicated.

My impressions - liked the first song, but the singing was off, and was amazed how bad the sound production was. They were late turning up Fergie's mike when she started singing her part in the opener, which as it turned out wasn't that big a deal because her singing really wasn't that great (she's got a good voice, maybe just a bad night?) Once they got past the second song, I started disliking the music and fast forwarded...

Then saw Slash on and figured I'd check that out, and again it was Fergie singing badly. Fast forward. Usher comes down from the sky and I look for a button that will increase my fast forward setting from "3" to "4".

Black Eyed Peas are obviously a studio productionn not a live act. But, I will say having country music would suck beyond all imagination. You wanna hear that crap, go to the Broken Spoke

Yeah, it's awesome that they sung live instead of lip-synching. That still doesn't make it good.

If they wanted a Texan who'd put on an upbeat and exciting show, the best choice would have probably been Eric Johnson.

AC/DC without Bon Scott is not the same. Not bad, but never as good; the edge is gone imho.

When wast he 1st big extravaganza SB 1/2 time? I don't even remember the transition from marching bands and baton twirlers, but I'm pushing 50, so there's a lot I don't remember.

Seriously some of you??? Eric Johnson? Butthole Surfers? You really seriously think those are candidates for the Super Bowl halftime show?

You get that this game was televised outside of the Austin metro area, right? Typically they try to book acts that people that are a little above the local music scene status - regardless of how good they are.
