Fall Camp / Practice

We have some depth without the injured guys. By my count, there are 6 scholarship WRs that should be "ready to go" as of today: Moore, Woodard, Washington, Dixon, Harrison, Estell. This isn't even counting Money or the possibility that the "other" Robinson from Bama will be used like our jet sweep backs from years past... Daje or DJ or whoever. The early-season depth doesn't seem great on paper, but with the north/south ability of the RBs, and about 4-5 TEs who are able to participate on offense, my bigger concerns would be QB and whether the mildly-injured or ill will be able to participate by the night game at Piggie.

From a San Antonio news article yesterday--Sark notes improvement among the QBs; WRs still a problem position. And the injuries continue to wrack up in the WR corps.

Sarkisian said. “I thought the offense played pretty well today. I thought the quarterbacks had a nice day. I thought they were efficient with the ball, took advantage of opportunities down the field when they were there. And in the end I thought they kind of controlled the tempo.”

“We need to be better (at receiver),” Sarkisian said... “Clearly that aspect of our game isn’t where it needs to be yet.”

Texas QBs improving, but Sarkisian still not ready to name a starter

Did you forget Worthy or is he injured?

The issue is the returnees never learned how to run routes or make adjustments, and the high school guys are still learning with the locker room is.

Please forgive me if I’m late to the party, but is J.Witt hurt. I didn’t see any articles about this .

J Whitt is reportedly day-to-day with hamstring issues per Chip Brown.
Omiere’s injury appears to be more serious.

C Brown also reports that WR Kelvontay Dixon is back after missing a week with an ankle problem.

Dare I state it about J. Whitt? No, I won't jinx him.

Let that hamstring FULLY heal, we need him back Sept. 4. Maybe coach could get him some compression pants / athletic hosiery like Earl wore his Senior year that keep his propensity for hamstring pulls virtually non-existent.

We just need 2 healthy WR that can get open on any given day. We can play 2 TE sets all game if necessary.

As is stands right now, I'd say Moore and Money are our 2 best proven receivers. I think Washington will progress and become one of our best. He's not there yet apparently...

This site now has us with only 2 injuries as of 8/24: Omiere and Alexis. This site also tracks athletes sidelined with "personal" issues--see USC, Bru McCoy...

I give no vouchers as to accuracy or timeliness, but it looks like a good resource,
for the serious fan...

IMO, JWhitt continues to overdo it in the weight room. At a certain point, muscles get so knotted up they lose flexibility. Looks good at the pool chatting up the split tail, but not so good for sustained, explosive, athletic activity. Note how often you see JWhitt stumble when making a cut or trying to accelerate. Less time gettin swole young man, more time stretching.

Someone prior stated they thought we dodged a bullet with Bru McCoy. Not sure if true .... but some of you may have an opinion.

Completely agree. Less time in the weight room. Some time in the swimming pool.

I didn’t major in Kinesiology, but I suspect there’s something to insanely low % body fat increasing the likelihood of muscle pulls, etc. The training staff needs to ensure our guys are well stretched. Re-stretching after standing around for a long while is also a good idea. And, of course, hydration. No need for goofy / weird piss color charts though…

This sounds great. Practice reports. Hope it shows dividends on the field! Sounds really good right now. Like Mack Brown in 98' good. Hope it sticks.

Receivers?
Unmistakenly yes, we have current issues.
Do we have the parts?
Yes...we just can't get them on the field together.
Will this be remedied this season?
My magic8 say nothing.....the thingie won't center in the little window
