Mythical? In case you missed it, they were the ones that looked more like Nazis than the neo-Nazis.

They've been around for more than a century in Europe. They're relatively new over here. They wrecked havoc at Trump's Inauguration, blocking streets and raising hell. They did the same at the J20 meeting and when Milo and Ann Coulter tried to speak at Berkeley.

They are radical left-wing thugs who use violence and intimidation to create anarchy.

I guess I mean "mythical" in regard to scope. I threw that in for fun. There were CERTAINLY some there. However, every person protesting wasn't part of them and there is that implication. Heather Heyer was a freakin 32 year old Charlottesville native standing up for what she thought was important in a normal way.

My point is made. You do make me laugh out loud a little bit though with blind accusations and assumptions like assuming I'm white when you really have no idea. It's kind of funny and quite frankly very low intellect. You're not even trying to sway opinion or convince anyone of anything. You just try your best to add fuel to the fire with every single post which leads me to believe Deez is correct. Maybe you shoud get a job to occupy your time. I hear lots of businesses are hiring these days.

I think it was one white man that killed him... a guy a mostly white government put in prison for the rest of his life ... and before a mostly white government made MLK Day a National Holiday. I know you deal in racial animosity ... but maybe you should take a little pride in reduction of racial tension and injustice. Lynching, rapes, intimidation of prospective voters, Jim Crow, legally segregated school, red lining ... a lot of bad stuff has been corrected. If you choose, you can hurt forever for things that were wrong. But if you are powerless, it's because you choose that path.
 
After serious soul searching, I think the city of Austin must do its share to right past injustices. Did you know the college football stadium is named after Darrel K Royal? Did you know his '69 national championship team was all white? Some would argue the football team later integrated under his tenure. But that was only to exploit black people.

There is a statue of Royal inside the Stadium bearing his name. The stadium should be renamed and his statue torn down. It's a travesty this racist was ever recognized.

When I was in Austin, this was the decision. There was to be a KKK parade down Congress. The various groups on campus argued about what they were going to do in response. The decision was eventually made to simply not show up. This would deny the KKK the chance for conflict/violence which is what gave them media coverage which is what they wanted.

I still think this is the smarter action (or non-action if you prefer).

When lefties protest, which they do all the time as we all know, the right does this, they stay away. This could have been what happened in Virginia. But instead, what happened there is my idea in reverse. The outside groups were the ones who wanted the conflicit/violence for the purpose of media coverage. And they got it.

Apparently, many of the counter-protest group were bought. There were Craigslist ads in a 3-4 state area. The ads were written and paid for by a California group.

The ad was posted by a company called "Crowds on Demand" and offered $25 per hour to "actors and photographers" to participate in events in the "Charlotte, NC area." While the ad didn't explicitly define a role to be filled by its crowd of "actors and photographers" it did ask applicants to comment on whether they were "ok with participating in peaceful protests."​

I guess now I am glad the statue of Jefferson Davis is housed safely in a museum at UT where it is out of the public square where it was defaced regularly, going back to the 80s when I was a student.
 
ISIS believes in destroying all statues of anything due to their radical extremist islamic beliefs. The vandalism of Columbus and MLK tells me a lot of Americans must think ISIS is on to something with that anti-sculpture thought process.

You're talking about the same white government that had Mr. King under FBI surveillance. And wrote anonymous letters to him threatening to black mail him for his extramarital affairs and threatening and encouraging him to kill him self? Is that the same white government you're talking about? And you're either in denial or not very smart. Because all those things that you just mentioned are still taking place today.

It should have been melted down because all it is and the other confederate monuments that are still on Texas' campus is junk metal.

I should have been a little less loose with the term "mostly white government." Naming Martin Luther King Day a holiday was a decision that involved legislative and executive and broad political support. What J Edgar Hoover did to Martin Luther King was the work of a person you'll be happy to learn IS DEAD.

I'm not in denial. If you define intelligence as the ability to see the world as you see it, I'm OK with you disrespecting my intelligence. According to test results on the bell curve, I'm pretty smart. But you seem to "know" stuff that I find unfathomable.

This guy makes me feel quite like the conservative that my wife claims that I am. Kind of reminds of a softball dad who was hard on his daughter referring to the dad who we thought might get close to the line of being abusive: "I kind of like him being around, makes me look better in comparison".
