Even More On JWP

Anasognosia is the result of long term transgenerational post traumatic slave syndrome exposure manifested in the Uncle Rukus persona, If for example a black "man" joined this thread for no reason other than to belittle black men he knows nothing about so that he curries favor with those advancing the dominant culture position, he is evidencing an illness unknown to him.
Hope this helps

Actually, your use of the term is completely incorrect; however, it is nice to know you have been able to create a mental disorder to explain those that disagree with keeping the Shelia Jackson Lee crowd in power.

Oilfield, don't waste your breath. Satchel will never acknowledge the opportunities that this country has to offer. It would destroy the crutch and kill the talking points. Start acknowledging opportunity and then you have to start talking about personal responsibility. That's kryptonite to Satchel and the gang.

Although I can't speak from experience as a rich North Dallas mover and shaker I can speak from common sense and basic economic reality.
I highly doubt any North Dallas rich white movers and shakers have hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash in their safes.
Even middle class North Dallas residents understand money sitting in a safe isn't " working" so it would be pretty stupid to have large amounts lying idly around
well stupid for law abiding people anyway.

Buckhorn, I fully acknowledge that there are many kinds of structuran and systemic problems in our society. They're everywhere. However, some people choose to succeed despite these issues and others use them as a crutch and an excuse for not succeeding over the course of their entire lives.

Do you think it is a bit ironic that the first African-American POTUS was raised by white people?

Buckhorn, good questions. I think you would know much more about these people than I would. However, I think it is notable that both Chisolm and Powell were raised by their immigrant parents. Keyes is military brat. So I think all three of these examples were people that faced distrimination without a doubt. However, they were raised by parents who truly believed in this country.

I won't go into Jesse except to say that he represents everything that is wrong with the "leadership" in the Black Community, as does the subject of this thread.

I still don't get what you meant by 'ironic' and how who raised Obama plays into it.

He was raised in several milieus, some of which weren't exactly 'white.' I am curious to know what you were trying to get at.

Buckhorn, what I'm saying is that young African Americans are born with the great talent that God gave them. Unfortunately many of them are then handed a very heavy chip that that they have to carry on their shoulders their entire lives. It's just my opinion but I believe that weighted chip comes from their parents (or lack of same) and their families. That chip weighs against the talent that God gave them. Most immigrants to this country come here without such a chip. Ironically 2 out of the 5 Presidential Candidates you mentioned were raised by immigrants. Our President was raised by his white grandparents. Alan Keys was raised in a military family. Despite the discrimination they surely faced, they were encouraged in their households to take advantage of their educational and other opportunities.

The antecdote to all of these success stories is to have a rich person preaching to you that you are "powerless".

I think that your use of the term 'irony' is clouding what you wish to say, which seems to be 'America is so great and has so many opportunities that blacks attending to various socio-economic complaints simply gets in the way of success.' Or something like that.

Immigrant status hardly seems dispositive of anything in this discussion. It's value in this discussion is especially murky as African-Americans are just about the only group not 'lucky' enough to have any kind of history in that experience. Inappropos.

It is true that voicing opinions and laying plans aimed at forcing social justice constitutes a way to not get elected as the president of the US, and that backgrounding racial issues can help get a person of color elected. That is not the same thing as saying there are no problems of race or that there is something wrong with people who feel they are being oppressed or are trapped in unfair circumstances rallying toward a better day via means that include calling injustice out on the carpet. Admittedly that doesn't play well to every audience, but no politic does.

I don't follow Dallas politics at all. I couldn't say what JWP has or has not done for his constituents or how his record stacks up against what his constituents feel is most important. I don't think that his political success or putatively corrupt methods speak with particular clarity about something pathological or unusual going on in his district, or with blacks in Dallas more generally, nevermind blacks the nation over.

I grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood and went to predominantly black schools. Such a waste of talent and energy when you try hard NOT to succeed.
