IRC -- Are the Republicans now trying to claim Lyndon Johnson? Did Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms join the Republican Party out of gratitude for the ending of segregation? Did Barry Goldwater's opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 take him out of the mainstream of the Republican Party or did it help him win the presidential nomination and help him carry five states in the Deep South out of the six he won in 1964 ?

Nothing specific. But, Zan has been around long enough to know how Price operates. So, if he is willing to stand up for him, then he's supporting the crap that Price is about.

You would be surprised at what I know about Price and his crew. I've met Price a few times and have family in South Dallas, that have had several run-ins with him.

Brotha strikes me as an independent thinker. From my perspective he's wrong a lot and sometimes a little abrasive,

but I see no evidence of self loathing.

Satchel, obviously the black community in Dallas seems willing to tolerate a little more self-dealing than would fly in the suburban communities I know best. (Based on what I saw with Al Lipscomb and Don Hill.) Do you think JWP be held to a different standard of honesty than North Dallas politicos because his constituents have a different standard?

Question..What's the median income, house price in district 3? What's the unemployment rate in district 3? How does it match up with the rest of the county after 27 years? 27 years of the same tired *** message from the same tired *** man. Yet, you will gladly sign up for another 27 years.

After you figure it out..go look up the definition of insanity.

The short answer is yes. I don't believe it is uncommon for political movers and shakers in North Dallas to have hundreds of thousands of dollars tucked away in their home safes. The reason why we may never know is political movers and shakers in North Dallas rarely are subjected to kind of scrutiny those in the Southern sector routinely experience. I am dubious about any suggestion that political and financial skullduggery can only be found in South Dallas.

I know JWP is going to get his. I'm more interested in if he is sharing that with the folks, who actually need it.

Tell me how his area stacks up with the rest of the county after 27 years of aggitating/overseeing.

And, if he's running off business', making it harder for them, he has some responsibility for the unemployment rate.

And, I already know how sad the umemployment rates are in black communities across America. Maybe you should look that up too. And, then look at who is leading those areas and what policies they are pushing.

Apparently, you've done so already. What did it do for your outlook on life?

It helps you understand that we live in a great country where people can start their lives over with absolutely nothing and become tremendous successes.

The lady that cuts my hair is one. She's got an incredible client list and she speaks really poor English. However, she has three sons and the first two were valedictorians of their high school class. One got a full ride to Harvard (under grad and grad), the other got a full ride to Stanford. The third is still in high school but she assured me he would be number one in his class too.

Its all about taking advantage of your opportunities and working hard.

The alternative is to go through life with a chip on your shoulder.

I see so many young people basically throwing away their educational opportunities. It is incredibly sad.

A person can accomplish so much in this country if they take advantage of their opportunities and do their best to diminish (not over emphasize) their obstacles.
