Euro 2008

I'll be pulling for my ancestors, the Spaniards. Incidentally, are y'all talking about the Austin Fado? If so, the old manager or GM there is now running the one here in Atlanta, and said down in Austin, it was a great set up with supporters groups for all the clubs, etc. and he wants to get that going here. Is it a good atmosphere on gameday?
 
Will be cheering for Greeks to pull another huge surprise. Down here we get ESPN Intl feed and the British feed so a couple of options to watch.
 
Arjen Robben injured in training. With Robben, Babel, Van Persie all out for the Italy game I am hoping for a point and not getting destroyed by the Azzuri!
 
Austria vs. Croatia sees Austria give up a penalty in the 4th minute.

Austria is looking every bit of the Top 100 team that they are.

In the ~22 minute, a Croatian forward took a knee to the chest from the Austrian goalie, but he appears to be ok. The replays looked somewhat vicious.
 
Austria got a lot of opportunities in the 1st half. I'm surprised at how crisp their execution has been in terms of delivering passes into the box. They have also been the more aggressive team.
 
Like I think that Tommy said, I am shocked to see that Austria has more shots on goal than Croatia. I really want to see them put one in to equalize.
 
They deserve a point, but will get nothing.

Their 3-back formation has kept the pressure on Croatia pretty well and it might produce a result against Poland. Again, with the exception of a PK at the 4th minute today they have looked the better team.
 
germany has learned the euro flop, if this continues, you have lump them in with italy and portugal.

England needed a tie in their last game of qualifying to make the tournament. They were at home and they lost 2-3 to another team that didn't make the tournament. Not their strongest moment.
 
The FA hired a donkey of a coach for England 2 years ago, and they played like shite on the pitch (tying Macedonia fer christ's sake). They got a lifeline on the last game of the qualifying rounds when Israel beat Russia, when all Russia had to do was draw. England (at home no less) played Croatia (who had already wrapped up 1st place in the group) and said donkey gave a keeper his first cap for england, and lost 3-2. The only good thing to come of it was that they fired McClaren. Just hope that they can qualify for the WC in 2 years.
 
Thanks.....so this only happens every 4 years....excuse my ignorance...but this is pretty sweet. There seems to be a ton of different tourneys every year...hard to keep up.

PS- My Italian friend never made it to the game watching at the Alamo. He was meeting with a professor in Belgrano and never hopped on the 152 to make it down to Barrio Norte.

I'll have to give him an ear-full manana.
