Elon Musk Stuff

Is Musk getting involved because of a good-faith desire to transform the waste in our government or a combo of that and neutering government regulations (such as union support or environmental rules; think launching rockets in South Padre Island, the turtles be damned).

I know SpaceX has been launching from South Texas for years. I did not know there were complaints to shut it down due to turtles.

I just threw that in there. There are environmentalists who are complaining. The turtles may or may not be impacted. Those who are upset will assume everything is at risk down there.

There's not. It is NOT South Padre Island. It is Boca Chica Beach. The rockets are an improvement to it. About two evolution cycles across that ship channel.

Yes, Boca Chica Beach. But you can see it very clearly from the balcony of one of the high rises next to the causeway. It's right there.

Musk is involved because government can cancel his businesses if he doesn’t kiss the ring.

Back to what Deez has said, we can improve the budget, but to eliminate the deficit we have to cut entitlement spending. DOGE isn't talking about that yet. But cut what is easier first.

And I'm skeptical that $1T of cuts from discretionary spending is a realistic ambition. I'd be happy to see it happen, but it's very hard to imagine Congress going that far.

Musks says 10% is fraud and 15% is waste, so
25% cut is theoretically possible for both discretionary and non-discretionary funds.

I have no data to argue the "fraud" percentage, but I suspect the "waste" percentage is higher than 15%. I hope DJT can root these out and eliminate them - and the remaining government agencies and employees will be motivated to work harder and smarter.
