The thing that I have the biggest issue with is the reversal. If their second thought was that the Miami player did not intentionally create the collision, how do you not give the Texas player the same benefit of the doubt. (It is my understanding that blocking out by backing into players is ok. It certainly happens a lot.) If they want to change it, change it to a “no-call”. Not a reversal. Cunningham appeared to be blocking and he could not see the player behind him. After watching fouls on Texas all game for trying to create charging fouls that never got called, methinks if it was the other way, that call does not get reversed. It looked like Cunningham had position initially and when the Miami player left his feet Cunningham went back because the bulk of the Miami player wan’t there. Cunningham didn’t jump at all. If he had it would have been over the back. As it was it gave the appearance that he moved under the Miami player. No way the officials were going to call a 50-50 call for Texas.
No sour grapes here but I am tired of crappy and sometimes questionable officials in all sports at the high school level and above. There just does not appear to be any accountability any more.
