Elite 8 • Texas vs Miami

I had a bad feeling before the game when CB picked TX. I wish he would have picked Miami. CB can't even pick his nose.

I think the game turned on the play prior to U throwing the ball off back of Timmy on the inbounds. I was screaming for us to call timeout when we had possession of loose ball on the ground, but we just let Miami tie us up. Told wife possessions are too precious to let slip away……and off they went. They gained a point on us after almost every possession after that. Bummer.

we didn't match their intensity when we got down to the single digit lead. Miami had their backs to the wall, they played with intensity. we needed to play like our backs were against the wall but we didn't.

Can't figure out why we would not call another timeout to settle the team when the melt down was in full force. Just let 'em play I guess.

Tough with different rotations due to injuries. With a healthy Disu I think we would have won this game, but whatever. Forced way too many shots.

When we win it's all credit to Chris Beard. Now that we've loss should he be the blame for that too?

Deliberately fouling in a one score game with plenty of time to play defense and get the ball back was really dumb.

All we had to do was stop them for a couple of minutes within the last ten, but just couldn’t get stops. The couple of times we did, we couldn’t capitalize. Oh well.

have to give Miami credit for hitting all those free threes.
Seems also there was not enough offensive movement. no set plays to get an open mid range shot

Great season - over-achieved and were fun as hell to watch. Wish they went further, but if you were told that we’d be an Elite 8 team back in January I bet we all woulda said “Hell yeah!!”

Great season for the Horns. Hope RT gets the interim tag removed so he can go recruit as the HC.

All due credit to Miami for their intensity. But the game swung on the officiating - this was a horrible performance by the refs. Miami got the benefit of a bunch of ticky-tack calls, and Texas got very few.

Your leaders have to step up in crunch time. We had been doing that, but not today. The late game turnovers — bad passes — were indicative of a loss of composure. I didn’t expect that.

Miami is a very good, well coached team. They deserve plenty of credit. But the lack of composure at crunch time was surprising, and disappointing.

Can't win when the opponent converts 70% of their 2 point shots. Why would you ever attempt a 3 pointer if you can convert nearly every 2 point shot?

That 7 minute stretch or so of not scoring killed us more than anything - we may have gotten a free throw or so but you can’t win in March with a scoring drought like that - the refs in the last 8 minutes were interesting…..great season though!

People have no idea how tough it is to get to Final 4 and Texas just squandered a chance of a lifetime! They couldn't make a stop and for whatever reason Cunningham was a target of refs. I'm not that complaining guy but that blockout call CHANGED EVERYTHING

We should have been on foul line (Miami kid would have fouled out, instead that was a 4 point swing! Truth

First of all; great season. The big picture is a a nice layout. It was very exciting and who can complain about an elite 8 loss when this program has only been to the Final Four one time? Not me.

And yet I will.

Under the category that all other colleges would title Loser's Lament I have to say it. Yes. We threw the ball away too many times. But the refs absolutely swung this game. How many times did Miami push off to clear space? How many times die they barrel to the basket and received the blocking foul? And their large center should have been fouled out twice near the end and instead made critical baskets (including a three point play) that swung the momentum completely their way. It was one-sided and I'll always believe it. It was not a game of equality according to the rules. It reminded me of how the refs escorted Dwayne Wade to the free throw line time and time again against the Mavs long ago.

That's it. That's how I feel.

Now it's time to sign Rodney and get on with next year.

The refs should get a lot of credit for thie win.

EVERY CALL WENT MIAMI.

the entire game flow changed when the refs call blocking instead of charging.

we had good. Position on both calls and later Allen was called for a block when the offensive guy NEVER had his shoulder past Allen, that is three charges called blocks. The first two changed the game.

This season was a good story. I think we let the seed get to our head a bit, but so did every other top seed in the entire tournament.

No Disu was a huge problem, so we should be grateful he did what he did to get us into the Sweet 16 to begin with. He still has his Covid year too, but I'd bolt if I was him.

Next year is going to feel like a nightmare at times. We'll be fortunate to bring back 5 scholarship guys and need to hit the portal for... well... anything. We just need bodies at this point, and finding guys like Carr or Allen isn't going to be easy.
