It became obvious post-Ferguson when white Democrats became more liberal on racial issues than blacks - the so-called "Great Awokening." It just took a few elections for the political system to catch up with it.

I have friends on social media that are even doubling down on DEI.

Apparently DEI is meritocracy, or a scape goat for all the things DEI has caused, or the only reason Jim Crow laws are gone. Even people I have helped personally, they don't say I'm the problem, but there politics says I'm the problem.
