Dumb Political Correctness

Dumb political correctness or not? The Harvard Mens soccer team has had the rest of their season cancelled due to the discovery of a tradition where the mens team rates and comments on the appearance of the women's soccer team freshman.

The problem is that they documented the activity.

As Rush said, what would have been the punishment if gay men on the soccer team were rating the incoming football freshman?

Really dumb. This is normal behavior for 18-22 year old people. Not men, not women, but people. People rate other people on 1-10 based on attractiveness. If someone does not think women do this, they havent been around enough women.

Also, who was harmed here? No one. A bunch of 18-22 year olds had a private discussion on a sexual topic that was made public. I thought the liberal argument for not punishing private homosexual and other behavior was no one was harmed? Then harvard is going to turn around and punish this? I bet harvard is also critical of BYU's policies. Very hypocritical on Harvard's part.

Also, facebook was invented at Harvard as a system to rate the attractiveness of classmates. Has harvard disowned Facebook or Zuckerberg? Do they accept money from facebook or Zuckerberg? Again, hypocrites.

Normally, people would apologize and move on. Harvard wants the soccer team to apologize? Fine. Harvard is a private institution and can do as they please, but they should not have required anything more than an apology. This is totally ridiculous. They want students to stop rating others on attractiveness they need to make it an official rule. Just like at BYU, it will happen anyway, but students will at least have fair warning of Harvard's totally ridiculous policies.

Clean, spare yourself while you still have time.
Lena Dunham nekkid is not something that can be unseen. Ms. Dunham proudly flaunts that she has an ugly body, and in an effort to ram her whole "be proud of who you are" agenda down the throats of the masses, she is often unclothed.
The irony is that she goes off on Twitter sharing how she feels insecure due to her body.
You owe me. I have taken a bullet for the men of Hornfans, and should you choose to explore the wonderland of Lena Dunham's body, it is on you, good sir.
I can sleep well at night.

Can't say that I have. Sounds like there'd be a lot of girl on girl action, amirite?

Hmmm...I haven't seen the show but my wife like it. It's a women's lib girl drama show from what little I've caught. There is a lesbian character though and nudity due to HBO.

Lena Dunham is a total waste of flesh - an obnoxious, pretentious, talentless Northeastern crackpot with delusions of grandeur. I wouldn't watch her show.

I don't know if it was the 39 percent Bar passage rate they had when I was applying for law school or the fact that the school has always been packed with spoiled brats who think they're going to Harvard when they're not, but I've never liked SMU. Link.

Politics professor Lawrie Balfour, who also signed the letter, said that a simple mention of Jefferson is enough to undo progress — a cycle that’s oft repeated during her decade and a half with the school.

“I’ve been here 15 years,” Balfour told the Cavalier Daily. “Again and again, I have found that at moments when the community needs reassurance and Jefferson appears, it undoes I think the really important work that administrators and others are trying to do.”

"a simple mention of Jefferson is enough to undo progress"

It looks like @texas_ex2000 and I have undone progress in America since we have both mentioned Jefferson in recent threads. I am sorry America.

He does know that Jefferson founded the University of Virginia, right?

Welcome to the destruction of progress by mentioning Thomas Jefferson club @Mr. Deez!

They are aware and apparently find it objectionable. They also probably object to "All men are created equal" as sexist, too religious and racist.

Update -- Campus police refused to let him speak, and forced him off campus
Tell me again who are the fascists in America?

Conservatives need to start taking this crap a lot more seriously. The unwillingness of conservative families to put their principles ahead of money and prestige is a big reason why we're losing on the academic front. That needs to end. They can do it in two ways. First, stop sending their kids and their money to schools that do this sort of thing. That should be obvious.

Second, there needs to be an army of conservative litigators ready to bring the pain in the courtroom. It doesn't matter if they lose. Fight anyway - file the lawsuit, conduct the most brutal and intimidating discovery you can (make it ugly and painful), and use the media as much as possible.

Finally, if we're talking about public universities (or any university that takes government money), complain to your public officials. Don't just do it once. Do it every time, and eventually the politicians will start holding them accountable. It can happen.

Higher education has become a Bernie Madoff scheme
Or maybe Al Capone?

Lauren Podell, a local NBC news reporter in Detroit, Michigan resigned on Wednesday after word got out about her use of the n-word, BLAC Detroit reports.

Podell, 31, reportedly used the word in conversation with a co-worker and the news got out around the office this week. She said to a crew member or TV producer, “I’m tired of reporting on these n*****s killing each other in Detroit.”

I don't feel sorry for this lady. First, n-bombs are offensive. The people who are offended by them have good reason to be. Second, though you have a right to drop n-bombs, you don't have a right to be free of the consequences of dropping them. Finally, the news channel has a reputation to protect. If it becomes public knowledge that one of their on-air personalities drops n-bombs, they have a right not to be associated with that person.

Location makes a big difference. I heard a guy doing play by play during a Temple High School football game use the word "jigaboo" on the air. Nobody cared. Do the same thing or worse in Detroit where the viewing audience is largely black and urban, and people will care.

I don't feel sorry for this lady. ....

Probably was not the right thread for that, but there wasn't another I saw that might work
And didnt want to start another one
Nonetheless, it does display double-standard

I think she also once accidentally dropped an F-bomb on the air
