Dumb Political Correctness

I still don't understand how this sort of thing becomes relevant in a workplace setting. Needless to say, I'm not bisexual, but not one of my past employers knows that, and most of them have no idea whether I'm gay or straight. How exactly does this come up???

This story is too damn funny
‘Feminist’ Snow-Plowing System Brings Stockholm to a Standstill
http://heatst.com/world/feminist-snow-plowing-system-brings-stockholm-to-a-standstill/

".... The “gender equal” strategy came in last year after politicians in the Swedish Green Party argued that the old way of clearing major roads in central areas favours men, who are more likely to work in the city, and get there by car.

Instead, the plows were sent to clear out sidewalks and cycle paths – on the basis that women walk and bike often. They also focused on areas like kindergartens, which children and parents visit in the morning.

Unfortunately, the theory did little to save Stockholm when a bumper snowfall hit at the end of last week.

Indeed, almost a week later buses are still struggling to run, and some 1,700 public transport passengers are planning to sue.

Progressive politicians have gone on the defensive, with the MP who suggested it claiming that the snow plows hadn’t executed the “gender-equal” plan properly.

Despite efforts to defend it, the plan has become a laughing stock....."

I'm speechless on this one.

I guess when Frank started wearing a dress and heals to work?

On the WestCoast, the LGBT community is a little more open. I haven't seen this gap though. In fact, from my anecdotal experience, 2 gay men households generally do very well financially.

I'm not sure if this would fall into the category of "Dumb Political Correctness"...

My wife is a middle school teacher of Debate and Social Studies. She teaches mostly 8th graders. In the debate class she lets the kids choose their own debate topics. One group decided to debate whether Santa was real. This was a group of 7 kids that chose to debate this. Over the weekend she received an email from a parent of a girl within the group asking my wife to change the debate topic because their 8th grade daughter apparently still believes that Santa exists and they want to keep the charade up as long as possible. My wife was dumbfounded since this girl was part of the choice of topic. She offers the kids a lot of independence thus she will not influence the topic choice and urged the parents to get the daughter to advocate to the group a change in topic.

A Louisiana state legislator smashed her fellow lawmaker’s birthday cake, also complaining on Twitter that the bikini theme was sexist and offensive.

Most gay men I've known made good money, whether they were a couple or not. Nevertheless, I don't see it as a matter of openness as much as a matter of relevance. If the boss and the employee are both doing their jobs, the employee's sex life shouldn't come up.

Democracies get the government they deserve. If we have kids going through 8th grade still believing in Santa, I am not sure how many people will be around to stand up to alt righter neo nazis or crazy pc police in the future.

That's my fear. Too much protection of our kids. It's not just the kids though but also adults. This is also in the same vein of fake news. Nobody questions what they are hearing or seeing anymore which allows a group like the alt-right to take root.

I am seeing a lot of this on both sides. SNL had a funny sketch called "the bubble" about it last Saturday. It seems to be worse with Trump supporters, but it is definitely happening with all sides. I do not get what it causing Americans to go full bubble and just accept news they want to hear.

Yep, we like to rail on the MSM as biased but it's the personalized news for each of us that is driving the bubble, IMHO. Whether it be news with a severe slant by places like Brietbart or DailyKos or simply the Facebook algorithms pushing news to us that is "like" other stuff we've consumed in the interest of stickiness to the platform, this may be the undoing of our democracy, IMHO. Before someone jumps at me for being against alternative views, I'm not at all. It is easier to create a factless alternate reality and live in that bubble now more than ever, regardless of where one sits on the political spectrum.

The bubble:

That is funny. I can forgive the magazine editor for their failed attempt at blatant racism because the model "passes".

Politically Correct Thanksgiving Pageant (per Himmy Kimmel)

it's pretty funny

We'd be much better off if all that O&G was transported by truck. :rolleyes1:

I'm all for doing our level-best to develop new sources of energy. But until they become more economical, O&G are going to be in our lives.

If you want Dumb PC just go to BuzzFeed.com anytime, day or night.

At the moment, they're trying to stir up **** because popular HGTV personalities Chip and Jonanna Gaines go to a Christian church that preaches that marriage is between one man and one woman. Therefore their show "Fixer Upper" is anti-gay, racist, you name it.

Here's one example, a "listicle" from Buzzfeed (whatever the hell that is) called "19 power point demostrations that don't give a ****". Mostly it's black people hurling racists insults at white people.
