Dumb Political Correctness

The boycott by 'progressives' seems to have failed

Chick-fil-A wanted to open in the San Antonio airport. Our commie city council rejected their application. Then they wanted to sponsor the ratty old Alamo Dome and have it called the Chick-fil-A Dome. Our commie city council rejected that too.

This is the same bunch that told the RNC not to even think about holding the 2020 Republican convention in SA (they were invited by the RNC to submit a bid), thus losing all those downtown businesses millions and millions of dollars. The only conservative on the council is resigning to run for a public office; commissioner of something or maybe a judgeship. He said he couldn't do any good being on that council.

And Chick-fil-a's franchises cost much less than McD/ Not sure about Subway or Starbucks
And employee retention is higher. Which is a HUGE deal.

They were probably getting bribes from this corporate bag man

It is absolutely appalling that Cherry was fired for simply stating the obvious. If immigrants are allegedly seeking to find a new way of life, then they SHOULD be embracing the elements of the new environs...and that means supporting the veterans who have served and defended the newly chosen homeland...

I despise the notions that the millennial SJW douche demographic has foisted upon us...I keep hoping that someone from that age bracket is eventually going to wake up and engage in some push-back, but they continue to disappoint.

Any chance Cherry could be successful with a lawsuit? Probably not in Canada since they have speech laws.
Nothing he said was actually contrary to the speech laws though...he pointed out an observation. But that gets missed in the rush to molly-coddle the very people that have shown they don't give a damn about their adopted homeland...

It could have easily happened here in USA.

Rush was fired from MNF for saying that the sports media is desirous of a successful black QB in the NFL. He should have added, "stop me when I say something that isn't true."

gratitude to veterans of host country is low

Why shouldn't it be?

then they SHOULD be embracing the elements of the new environs

For sure.

and that means supporting the veterans who have served and defended the newly chosen homeland

That seems to be an odd emphasis/priority out of all the different things that embracing a new nation could mean.

The survey in the middle of the page on that article was so cringeworthy but serves as a reminder of why rational people distrust the mainstream media.

In case others did not get the same survey, it was a four-option reply to a question of whether Trump and/or his administration was racist. The only options were that he was, that he AND the administration were, that he was not but the administration is and a final option of "I don't know/care." There was no ability to vote that neither he NOR the administration were racist.

That's why Millennials hate Boomers.

What's sad is that they have some legitimate complaints - big national debt and obscenely overpriced college tuition and health insurance. The problem is that they mindlessly advocate "fixing" those problems by doubling down on everything that screwed them up.

Not that long ago, I walked through a discussion like this with my niece (currently a grad student in Austin). I think she was 25 at the time, and I asked her what her 25-year old self thought of her 15-year old self. She had some rough teen years, so that was an easy comparison. I asked her how it happened, how she got from troubled 15-year old to happy, successful 25-year old. We talked of maturity, education and just general life experience. Then I asked if she expected that process to continue - of course she did. So then I got her to agree that she saw her 35-year old self as an even more improved, evolved version of herself -- smarter, better educated, more mature and with even more life experience. And then "if you were going to making a big decision, possibly life-altering, not just for you but for other people as well, which of you do you want making that decision? The 15-year old you, the 25-year old you or the 35-year old you?" That was the segue into "OK, now let's apply that to voting"

I remember the first time I heard “I wanna kiss you all over” and hoping I wouldn’t be in the car with the kids if it came on.

It's really amazing. Over the last few centuries, we've gone from Bach and Mozart to Cardi B and others telling people to eat her ***. And we think we're getting smarter and more sophisticated over time.

What will it be in 20 years?
What is worse than eating that?
"I want to eat your aborted baby?"
"I want to sleep with Adam Schiff?"

For the most part, I don't turn on the radio anymore, and that pretty much solves this problem. It's just crappy pop and booty-shakin' music now. If you like rock and alternative (from the days when it didn't suck) like I do, there's really nothing for you.

Eating it when it's dirty? It's gonna happen if it hasn't already. For every nasty, screwed up thing your can think of, there's some weirdo out there who likes it.

In all seriousness I'm not sure it'll get dirtier as much as it's going to get more pervasive. 2 Live Crew was as nasty as any of these people, and in the 70s David Allan Come put out some really raunchy stuff. However, they were pretty isolated. Very few were like that. Nowadays, "artists" like that are a dime a dozen.

I'm very thankful we have WRR in DFW - at least I can listen to very good classical music. But then, I'm a dinosaur.

I remember my dad listing to WRR when I was a kid in the mid to late '80s. I laughed at classical back then. Now it's one of the few things I actually do turn on the radio to hear. That started when I got into my mid-30s.

Most music over here is still crap. And trust me, hearing rap in German sounds weird. I can't help but think, "is he talking about beating his hos and shooting cops like American rappers do?" However, being in the land of Bach and Beethoven and very close to the land Mozart means at least some good classical stations.

So how will they be able to continue to shock, and get bring attention to themselves?
