DKR returning to grass field, new practice facility

Allsome! I swear, watching a game on that field turf crap is horrible. Guess that may be a requirement of being in the SEC!SEC!SEC! <sarc>

Seriously, grass alone is a huge improvement that I have commented on many times the last few years.

Guess I will save close to $1200 a year not having to have the super duper highest Direct TV package just so I can have the nearly unwatchable anymore LHN. Might as well cancel it now.

Does no one edit anymore? How is that a mistake even? DEI or something?

GB,

I sent CDC an email and addressed several things, but one in particular was how Phil Knight got included in our call - Had to be him because no one else is that damn stupid.

CDC's reply to that question was one of the most pro Texas, wonderful quotes to ever come out of anyone ever employed on the Forty Acres.

What did he say?

From another thread:

"If God wanted multicolored sunsets, He'd have made them purple and green," Del Conte said. "But He didn't. They're burnt orange. ... It's not old. It's not stuffy. It's Texas. It's the best."

I just hope the grass experiment works this time. After they dug the field down for 1999, that thing went in the crapper pretty quickly. There were some games in 2007-08 that genuinely looked like they were playing on sand.

My thoughts exactly 11, let’s get the grass thing right this time. Tired of all the slip and slide grass experiments of the past years. Find the best turf and stay with it.
As for the uni’s, I still say DKR’s burnt orange tints were the best true color. Somehow it got variations of bright orange over the years. They need to revisit the burnt orange hue that the teams wore in the 60’s.
It looked way better on the helmet and jerseys.

I can't find my old post, but I say just go with the stormtrooper whites forever and always. I don't really care what version of orange is on there for the uniform numbers or the Longhorn head on the helmet. Everyone loved it when we went with the all-whites in the home game against WVU a few years ago. We can bust out the orange for Texas/OU every other year or for a bowl game or something. Maybe when we play at LSU eventually.

The whites, or Icey whites as they call them are not as appealing to me as they used to be. Maybe it’s because we’ve lost too many games with them on or maybe it’s because they’ve been bastardized by so much other stuff on them. Not sure why but the Orange ones have gained in my own personal favor. Guess because no one else has them and a number of others have adapted the whites.

DKR came up with the Burnt Orange color in the days of run on first down, run on second down, run on third down, repeat. Ball handling and fakes were a major part of the offense. Burnt Orange was as close to the color of the J5V as he could get and hide the ball.

Burnt Orange color is trademarked by The University.

I wondering what this means for baseball. I really enjoy Keith and Swindell.

My money is on all our content moving to ESPN+ (outside of a few mid-major battles worthy of SEC Network and major games worthy of ESPN, ABC, etc). I guess that's good for me since my TV provider doesn't offer LHN. I'd have to pay more for someone that carried it or more next year for ESPN+.

I assume an aggy or OU journalism graduate wrote that.

100%. Sabre nailed it!

You are going to be living in Texas, so you will have access. It sounds like most everything is going to be on ESPN+.

Guy,

Questions were submitted online. Question was something to affect: "Will Texas breakout different uniform scheme for one special game a year"

Chris' answer could not have been more perfect if I had written it. Better yet, he didn't stammer, stutter, or have to think about it. It was instant.
