Dec 20 NSD Thread

Just as a side note; Dandydon.com (LSU Homer site) is gushing about cleaning up in the trenches saying that Orgeron gets an A+ for the linemen he recruited.

Agree. LSU did outrecruit us on the OL.
But we will do much better in 2018 -- hopefully our QBs will all live to see it

Just a thought from an admitted no clue guy.
I’d tell the holdouts past Friday, if you are having doubts we understand and will actively pursue other recruits. If they sign the in Feb, that’s great but we are now going after the kids who want to play here and good luck.
I loved when Mack pulled offers if a kid took a visit after “committing “ to Texas.

Thanks LC. I thought Longhorns whiners were pretty much state of the art. Obviously, Aggies angst is setting a new standard.

Well, when you think signing Jimbo Fisher is going to magically fix your program, and it's been two whole weeks and nothing has changed, it can be pretty traumatic.

That's what overpaying does. No honeymoon. The thing is, the poster is probably spot-on. If they don't turn it get it rolling with an elite looking program it could get ugly fast.

Just heard on the BK noon-day feed and they had a recruiting guru on (such that it is from brainiacs I think); he acted like the running back (sorry haven't memorized the names) is almost a lock for Texas and as we've all be hearing is focsing completely on the championship game. As for the DT, he said he was a very early commit and didn't take any visits and now wants to do that. A&M is possibly the threat with him.

OK, so we have 19 signed NLIs
+ 2 more committed but so far unsigned -- RB Ingram and DT Coburn who together would put this class at 21
At his presser, Coach said he thinks 27-29 recruits in this class.
If so, that leaves 6-8 spots

2 OLs - Johnson + 1? (I dont think the purported grad transfer counts in these #s)
1 Slot WR - Keys? (or Waddle, Moore, Bush)
1 DT - Ojomo? (Brown)
1 DE - Alexander? (but Ark just offered) and/or V. Jackson, Carson, Ossai?
1 OLB - Bonitto or White
1 TE - Nic McTear? (maybe grade issues)

update -- sounds like Vernon Jackson wont sign with Alabama early and will visit Texas in Jan

I think we are stacked at WR, and don't really need another in this class, if they aren't special (like Waddle). JMO

We have 4 OL signed and 0 DL signed. We have 1 DL unsigned. I'd think DL would take precedence over OL now, unless we can get an interior OL.

I'd want
3-4 DL (Coburn, DT, DE, DE/DT)
1 OG/C
1 WR (If it was Waddle or Marshall)
1 OLB
1 RB Ingram
1 QB (if Tanner wants)

It is possible our purported grad transfer OL has been identified.
OL coach Derek Warehime recently started following OT Calvin Anderson (6'5,285) on twitter. He is Rice's starting LT as a RS JR. He played his high school at Westlake. And he was also just named 2nd team All Conference-USA, according to the good folks at Pro Football Focus. He was also Honorable Mention All C-USA in 2016, as named by the league coaches. His profile says he has run a 40 in 4.90.

Not that we need an experienced LT or anything.

He is a bright kid (majoring in Mathematical Economic Analysis) and his grandfather was also a pro athlete (tennis). And, oh yeah, can solve a Rubik's Cube behind his back

With Reggie Hemphill-Mapps contemplating a transfer, Coach Naivar just started following WR Jalen Preston (6'2,212). And vice versa.

This player is aggy's top ranked verbal. He is #11 in state and the 5th ranked WR. If nothing else, it will send aggy into a tizzy.

WTH? Mapps got plenty of playing time at WR and punt returns despite fumbling and catching punts on the 1 or 2 yard line.

It's not a done deal. He had a RS year then 400y on 36 catches in 2017.
So the speculation is that he is homesick. His father passed near the end of his high school career, and he is close with the remaining family. We will see.
