Day 1 - Happy SEC Day

Well like it or not it is reality. With that in mind CDC's event heralding Texas' entrance was genius. As if Texas was doing the SEC a favor.

I'm happy with being in the SEC. I'm happy with playing better competition in better locations. I'm also happy with my Apple Macbook and my Chevy pickup, I just don't put their logos on all my crap.

Do Aggies now sing “hello to Texas University?”

god, I miss going there to play them. That has always been my favorite game

I hope some of them were watching SEC network yesterday when Finebaum dropped that line about UT joining being the best day in the conference’s history. Or greatest day

Agree. We don’t need it. This is the SEC marketing itself.

Did the SEC network do anything showcasing OU and Norman, aside from the video? Did they broadcast a show from campus there?

July 1 Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network is scheduled to be from Norman. 2 pm

Since like it or not Texas has joined the sec and apparently the Sec was going to do some promo I like that CDC took it out if their hands and made it uniquely Texas. No quietly creeping in hoping the other teams will welcome us. Contrast what Texas did with aggy trying to kiss azz.
I did not like moving to Sec but understand things were going to change no matter what.
You gotta admit yesterday was more about Texas than the Sec.

I'm mostly with HIC and George...

I'm pumped to move to the SEC because of the PR and level of competition. I'm NOT into an SEC circle jerk.

I would never think in my wildest years to chant for my conference at a football game. (circle jerk)

I love buying hats/shirts at the conf champ so I know the cof logo is on the side or the shoulder or what not. I would NEVER buy a conf hat or shirt. (circle jerk)

Please fans, dont chant SEC, SEC, SEC in the future. Discourage others at games if you can.

That chant is what aggy desperation does to claim some weak level of legitimacy to a conference they have NEVER been a serious contender in any sport , until baseball 2024.

UT is WAY above chanting SEC, etc.

I regret that I have only one account to like this post. It's bad enough we have to look at that **** on the uniforms, but to chant something that:

1) has only three members close to Texas academically & none competitive in Accounting. Linguistics, Engineering, or Architecture

2) None close in financial value

3) None close in budget size

4) Only three that are also Tier 1 (NO aTm is NOT)

5) None close in Endowment (may be 2-3 combined that can't equal ours)

So, let's all run down to WalMart Friday morning to grab an overpriced t-shirt supporting the less fortunate.

(Still, it's light years above the conference we left behind)

I would have preferred THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS go independent. Much as ND did.

UT is THE JONES of public universites and the JONES of college athletics.

UT PUF / endowments are only slightly behind Harvard IIRC.

Worster,

I believe that Texas endowment is larger than Harvard's, but when Harvard is allowed to add in their "sister college", they then exceed Texas. I know this was true, but not sure about now.

Apparently when Harvard absorbed Radcliffe and added their endowment they surpassed Texas. I am led to believe that amount was between one and two billion dollars

Even at #2 on that list...

$45 Billion

$45 Billion!

Pause. Let that sink in for a few minutes.

The incredible wealth and power that UT / the UT System has!

Never ever. Except after winning the SEC championship. Kind of like not dogpiling in baseball.

Um, aggy didn't win the SEC conference title in baseball this year, either. Believe they were 4th in the regular season standings and went 2nQ in the tournament.

Florida, Vanderbilt, and who?

What's surprising about the Harvard endowment is that it's not bigger. They have the wealthiest alumni in the world. They have 28 billionaire alumni and over 17,000 graduates worth at least $30 million. Compare that to Texas who has fewer than 10 billionaires and only 3,400 worth over $30 million. I know that's not exactly how the endowment works, but that a part of it.

And, the PUF helps! Harvard doesn’t have that.

I fear, particularly at the first game the excitement will bring forth an unstoppable chant.

I fear students are ignorant, caught up in FOMO, with no historical perspective

Welp, looks like you're getting your favorite game back. Also, I'd wager your eagerness is shared by 0.01% of your fellow Longhorn fans.
