Coronavirus

AC.

Investigate who is doing the testing. Lots of incompetence and politic$ out there.

It can take you to ICU really quickly.

So I have a question. My symptoms have been mild for 4-5 days. Coughing a lot but more in the evening and night. Tightness in my chest but no fever. I am working daily as much as I can. No ibuprofen. Vitamins. Should I get tested? My wife doesn’t want me to due to the 14 day quarantine by the health department. We know they check up on you too. My tele health appointment is Wednesday.
I would get tested if I were you because it is 80-90% likely to be negative, but it will have the benefit of giving you peace of mind.

At the press conference, it was also said that by the time the 2nd wave hits in the Fall, they will have the capability to test everyone around the person who may have tested positive to isolate the infected ones. Testing 10-20 bystanders around an infected person will be the norm. They also said wearing a mask will likely be a requirement for some time for people going back to work.

So, tell us Joe Fan, is it blast of cold water? Seems like that would wake you up and get you going on cold winter's day.

I think the TP hoarding fad has about run it's course. Wife has had TP on her HEB curbside orders for weeks and never got a single roll. This weeks order (placed more than a week ago) had a giant package of TP included. Combined with the giant package she stood in line to get last week, that puts us on the threshold of being TP hoarders.
My wife went to Sams last week and felt pressured to buy two jumbo packs of TP. 90 rolls. They were on sale and “everyone else had two in their basket”. We are officially hoarders now.

MC,

Don't want to rain on your parade, but we have a family friend, who meets only one of the "danger zones" and is in good health.

THREE times test came back negative; today is in ICU.

Is it the virus, poor testing, or the testing centers?

You already know where my vote is going.
According to a physician friend the test is not very accurate. We should have used the German test and saved about 6-7 weeks.

And they would all have warm water which I imagine is even, but I cant speak to that with experience.

I'd be a bigger fan if it was rigged to a hot water heater that was instant or close to it. We had a tankless propane hot water heater in the Azores that would have worked great, but I wasn't ready to try a bidet yet.

This professor is getting a lot of flack over here for criticizing the Coronavirus measures being taken in Europe. He makes some interesting points. He speaks German, but there are English subtitles.

My sister was stationed in the Azores for a few years (medical side). She had the only car (a Rambler). Just left the keys in it. But I have never spoken to her about the plumbing there.

I lived in a small village called Porto Martins on Terceira Island. The plumbing there was fine. They did not have a gas utility though. You had to call a "gas man" to bring propane tanks to get hot water.

I'm not surprised she could leave the keys in her car. It was pretty safe and generally American-friendly.

She was there further back in time. Remember Carter's failed mission to rescue the hostages in Iran? They refueled on her base for that. It's basically a floating gas station. With a hospital. And I guess time affected the plumbing, but Ive never asked about it.

ps - she says she was at Lajes Field

pss - I think spanish is much easier to speak than portuguesa

Lajes is where we were. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. And you're right. It's a floating gas station. It used to be a very active base, but with the rise of in-flight refueling, it is less so. The force there is a fraction of what it was. The hospital closed in the '90s or '80s, and the DoDEA school where Mrs. Deez worked closed about 4 years ago.

However, it's still important, because during wartime when huge numbers of planes are crossing the ocean, it's more practical to land and refuel. It has more capacity than our in-flight refueling tankers. It's also important because if we ever left, China would take it over, and it would be extremely valuable to them. We're getting dangerously close to allowing it. Link.

In Mobilhoma, we don't expect much better.
Listening to a podcast today discussing the current growth of the virus. The guy said something to the effect of..."tourist and other destination spots are the front lines of this and are going to be in the most danger (NY/LA/Colorado/Florida/New Orleans)". I giggled about how according to hornfans, I'm now at a very safe place. :)

Lol. To us it's not safe, because we associate Oklahoma with dirtiness. We assume you all rarely bathe or wash your hands and have bad manners - lots of uncovered coughs, sneezes, and belches and lots of nose-picking. So if even one Coronavirus patient shows up in Oklahoma, it'll spread like wildfire.

I don't know where you would come to that kind of outlandish conclusion?

Saw a new term on the internet today I thought was funny, COV-IDiots. Used to describe people attending Covid parties, etc.
I am surprised you are just learning of the term...I've been using it to describe some of the over-the-top fearmongering fools almost from Day One.

I would get tested if possible but — and I am not a doctor! — I would also start on hydroxychloroquire + Z-pack if I could find it anywhere.

Every bidet I have come in contact with is. Even if you plumbed it with hot water, you wouldn't get warm water on the first shot, just as you don't have instant hot water at your kitchen sink.

Surprisingly (or perhaps not), you often find them in better homes in Louisiana. I prefer the wet wipe which has been on my hemorrhoid prevention regimen for 25 years.
Just catching up...

We bought a bidet from Costco last year and I can tell you that it was one of the best purchases we have ever made:

Remote control EVERYTHING:
Instant heat
Temperature control
Multiple flow controls
A dryer
A light
Heated seat
It beeps if you want it.

This device is such a pleasure that now, until we can add another, we are basically only using one bathroom in our house. We have three.

@AC, do what I did. I called my doctor and was given the number for the testing facility that is 5 minutes down the road from me. They called and did a phone screening. I would guess it would b the same for you. They will determine if you need it.

With my being a pilot and having had the loss of smell, they scheduled me for a test tomorrow morning.

Here is a good thread describing the coronavirus symptoms. Also, it is noted how fast it goes from bad to serious. Also note the fever, lost appetite and other things.

That's a fancy *** bidet. Most of the ones in Europe aren't like that.
