It helps if it is the right mask, if it’s worn properly and it’s sanitized after each use. That’s simply not happening in everyday America.
Iis is right. Most people here who wear masks do not wear them properly. I am not sure if haphazard wear is better than nothing
Keep in mind that there's a reason why surgeons wear it.
And it's to keep from infecting the patient, not the other way around.
Having a hard time buying this. I wear surgical masks (not the N95). Obviously a virus on its own can get through it. However, there's no question that it blocks a significant amount of liquid droplets (which carry viruses and bacteria) from my breath. Keep in mind that there's a reason why surgeons wear it.
I work for a company that makes masks. I am not an expert, but have been trained since I work with hazardous chemicals at times.
If you wear the wrong mask and the particle or molecule gets through the mask, it tends to accumulate. The harmful specie doesn't move out as much as moves in. Don't know why. If you wear a mask where you face isn't sealed you are breathing in things you don't want and they are getting on average trapped within your mask.
This may be different for different types of masks and different pollutants. But it is unclear to me based on what I know.
And gee, Joyless Bahar, Don LeMON and Chris hypocriCuomo, the military & VA have been using HCQ “for 65 years.” On any given day “the VA uses 42,000 doses.”India -- three studies find that hydroxychloroquine reduces chances of contracting Covid-19, so ICMR allows more frontline workers to take it as a preventive drug.
Govt expands Hydroxychloroquine as prophylactic for healthcare workers
Hit the gym today in the county south of Nashville . Literally 15 minutes away from my home where working out is forbidden.
Three people wearing masks. Two doing so with their mouth covered, but not their nose.
Masks only work when used properly. This is a false sense of security that does nothing regarding this virus.
Were they in fact coughing, belching and sneezing while in the store, mask or no mask?If we're looking at anecdotes, I went to three different stores this past week including one used almost exclusively by Americans because it's on a US Army instation. Everyone inside (about 100 in each store) was wearing a mask, because it's required to enter. Everyone I saw was covering the mouth and nose. It isn't that hard. Do I feel "secure?" No. Do I feel better than if they had nothing and were just coughing, belching, and sneezing fully into the air? Yes.

Nobody touched their mask and all were brand new or sanitized? Comparing what doctors do in a hospital to average Joe is silly. Doctors are trained and follow strict sanitary protocols. Their masks are used once and disposed of immediately after seeing a patient. The moronic public is walking around with Petri dishes tied to their faces, hanging off their rear view mirrors or holding in their hands. I’m not buying it. I’ll wash my hands, stay home if I do not feel well and avoid compromised family and friends. If we're looking at anecdotes, I went to three different stores this past week including one used almost exclusively by Americans because it's on a US Army instation. Buy 2-3 masks, put them on your window sill or car dash. The UV from the sun will disinfect the masks in 2-3 hours.I'm not making a perfect comparison, no. What I'm really suggesting is that it isn't an all or nothing issue. We're better off if people wear them even if done imperfectly but generally correctly than if nobody wore them at all. Are they wearing petri dishes on their faces? I don't know, but I know that we seem to be heading in the right direction on containing the virus without a big upswing in illnesses likely caused by wearing a less than sterile mask.
And again, I fuckin hate wearing a mask.
