Corey Nelson switches

this was definitely a "numbers" class for us. we missed on some guys we really thought we had a good chance on... white, jeffcoat, but not all is lost.

with such a big class, you would hope that out of 14 or 15 3 stars, some of them will turn out to be sleepers. that is kind of the hope with a class this big.

skeeter, i heard the same thing. i've heard some not so flattering things about venebles recruiting style.

oh well. alls well that ends well. glad that he'll be with us next year, wouldnt be surprised to see him start on day 1.

Me thinks this be like voting. The lesser of two evils. None the less, congrats to the ags if true.

all depends on how our defense performs.

i dont anticipate our offense missing much of a beat. our OL will be young, but they'll gel much like this year's group did.

if our defense can get a few stops, we have the chance to be a decent team.

Without a doubt Nelson will have a couple sets of scholarship papers in front of him on Wed, and which he signs and faxes in is anyone's guess.

I think ou already had a commitment from his clone. Maybe two 6'0 205 lbs playmaking speedsters is one to many at linebacker....

Prop Joe, I have to disagree with you. This kid is not firm on any school right now. He's probably a really good kid that just does not want to upset any coach recruiting him. He's a heck of a LB prospect. One of the very best and would be a great get for atm. I understand you want and could use him but no one especially Nelson himself know where he is going. NSD is right around the corner. We'll all know then.

maybe so.

the other side of that is that nelson has been committed to A&M since this past summer, and that we weathered a late push from OU. he never committed to the sooners--rather it was an overzealous writer who probably took comments out of context.

but you're right. nothing is final until wednesday. i'll be relieved when we get nelson and fobbs' LOIs faxed into our AD.

I think in the end, Nelson winds up in collie station. However, if I'm a fan of agricultural (Which, thank goodness, I could NEVER be!), I wouldn't take that to the bank until the ink is dry on his letter. okie moves in mysterious ways.

Nelson is the one bright spot in a rather dismal recruiting class, when looking at the defense. We need to get some of these "athletes" like Malcolm Kennedy and Jarret Fobbs on the defensive side of the ball.

Personally, I kind of feel bad for the kid. Only my opinion, but I think he wants to stay in Texas but also wants to go to a big time program with a chance to win championships. He committed to Aggy early, but then knowing they were on the down slide, he threw out every hint possible to UT that he might be interested. Again JMO, but I think we were waiting to see what Hicks was going to do and if Hicks had gone another way, I think we would have signed Nelson. The timing of Nelson's second thoughts (since Hicks commitment) is just too coincidental. He also seems now to be a guy who was wiating for his ship to come in but then it didn't.

This is actually gonna play out to be the most interesting recruiting scenario tomorrow. I'd actually like to see him wind up with agricultural, but something tells me that tonight, before signing day tomorrow, he does NOT know which letter of intent he's gonna sign. Teenagers change their minds very quickly...

nelson is solid. sooner boards have come out and indicated that the coaching staff has backed out. he'll sign with the aggies.

we did, however, lose fobbs. disappointing loss, but LSU's pull was a bit too much.

Didn't hear about the Fobbs decommit. aggy could have used him. It's actually good news for 'ol army otherwise.

sites are going back and forth with information. yesterday all signs pointed to nelson signing with A&M, and ou shutting it down. now A&M and sooner boards alike are indicating that venebles burned the midnight oil on the cell phone and nelson is considering signing with OU.

just depends on who you want to listen to...but either way, it's anything but a sure thing at this point.
