Corey Nelson switched from aggie to ou.

Doesn't that give ou 30 commits? Great news for JJ and Texas.

I agree that this isn't a big surprise. We all knew it was a very soft verbal. But it is cases like this that make you extra cautious until the ink is used on NSD.

this one hurts.

truthfully i wondered how we got so lucky as to get him in the summer, then weather the storm from everyone else through the year...but i felt confident he'd sign with us too.

this just flat out sucks. best of luck to him, but **** ou.

Disappointing news. If he wasn't coming here, it would be better to see him somewhere he could do no harm, like College Station.
 
man, that is weird. on my insider site, no one really felt we made any headway with him and nelson was just taking trips.

I guess OU is counting on quite a bit of early exits or attrition. This is a very solid class for them though and likely it will build to its heights in 2012/2013. Then they will go into mass rebuilding mode again.

This is mostly an offensive class for OU who has only 4 of its 15 four star players slotted for the defensive side of the ball. I guess Nelson would make 5 of 16.

Interesting contrast as Texas is landing a very highly ranked defensive class, though it is still very balanced.
 
The local Aggie here at work, who has a Texags premium subscription, isn't giving up yet.

I don't think we'll know for sure until next Wednesday.
 
hale, the guy on ouinsider who originally indicated that nelson was going to go to ou is backing off indicating that he thinks nelson will ultimately sign with A&M.
 
As much as I loves me some aggy misery (seriously, no one deserves it more) I hope the latest reports are true and he sticks with aggy. I hate to see Texas kids go OOS, especially to blOwU.

As previously stated, he'll be much less a threat to us as a standout LB on a sucky D than as yet another playmaker on a s00ner defense that's full of playmakers.

Now if he were to bolt for TCU, that would be the best of both worlds!

Official aggy is saying not so. "Dallas Skyline LB Corey Nelson is still committed to the Texas A&M Aggies according to Nelson via text with ESPN site TexAgs.com"
 
ESPN Insiders Pay Site reports Nelson to remain an Aggie. Nelson's quote sounds pretty convincing to me: "Tell everyone I'm through with recruiting and I will remain at A&M. It's my future."

I would much rather see him at aggy than at OU. It is a matter of principle with him being a Texas kid and all. Now I wouldn't mind at all if Baylor or TCU poached him...
