WVU gives Texas all it could handle and more in the conference opener in a 4-3 Texas win in ten innings.
Parker French goes nine full and still doesn't get the win as the defense let him down. The bats weren't doing much off a freshman pitcher for the Mountaineers in his first ever start in Dotson and a native Texan to boot.
The Horns avoided what would have been a pretty embarrassing loss against a team that though in the conference opener, has yet to play a home game this season.
Nice to see freshmen continuing to contribute as Conner Macalla gets the game winning SF in the tenth to win it.
So it's not a pretty game for the Horns, but it's still a win and a conference win too and that sure beats losing any day now doesn't it.
So on to tomorrow and game two and hope to win and take the series.
Couple of other scores. In the only other conference series going on this weekend, #2 ranked TCU beats Baylor 3-1 in Forth Worth. Rice scores three runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat La Tech 4-2.
Also Texas Tech gets blasted at San Diego State 9-0.
