Coaching News and Rumors

For me, I seen no improve in the defense during the season. So this is my concern. If the KU performance does not concern everyone, I dont know what will.
Again, either K did not develop good players or the players sucked in talent and attitude and were beyond developement.
Can't have it both ways.

It was either a scheme issue and bad play calls, or it sure looked like players were going through the motions. No real effort to get off blocks no sense of pride.
If its a scheme issue Patterson will help greatly with that. Like two highly experienced generals in a war room.
If its an attitude issue, lack of effort etc those players can be replaced. The freshman defensive players coming in, though talented, will need time to get bigger and stronger.
I think Patterson can be a strong influence if he sticks around.
Unless J Sanders catches the ball at least 3 or 4 times a game don't waste his talent from being a terror as a DE. He's fast and athletic. We need pressure on the QB.
I hated losing Mckenzie so we need Perkins bad.
Or else we go portalling but that hasnt been very helpful as far as LBs go.

It's official, Tony Elliott (Clemson OC) is the Cavaliers' new head football coach.

Tony Elliott named UVA’s new head football coach

:clem:

Dabo promotes from within to fill vacancies left by coaches poached by others.

"Defensively, Clemson promoted Wes Goodwin from Senior Defensive Assistant to Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach and added the role of Co-Defensive Coordinator for Safeties Coach Mickey Conn. Cornerbacks Coach Mike Reed added the role of Special Teams Coordinator previously held by Conn, while Recruiting Coordinator/Defensive Tackles Coach Todd Bates has added the title of Assistant Head Coach.

Offensively, Clemson promoted Brandon Streeter to Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach. Clemson named Kyle Richardson, who had served as Director of High School Relations and Special Assistant to the Offense, as Passing Game Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach."

What happened to the concept of giving a coach time to implement? If we expected a coach to come in and immediately turn around a piss-poor defense, then shame on us. It has been mentioned in numerous threads that there is an endemic problem with the players here. Give the guy a chance to get the players he needs and then if they don't perform, well, we have a problem.

Head Coach Brian Kelly is looking to poach DC Brad White (Kentucky DC) for a new DC in Baton Rouge.

LSU Football: Brad White likely has his eye on a specific head coaching job

Brad White (Kentucky DC) will not be joining Brian Kelly at LSU. He's staying put at Kentucky. Moreover, he's donating his bowl bonus $$ to the Kentucky tornado relief efforts.

And LSU says they didn't want him anyway... (just kidding)

:gatech:

Georgia Tech hires Mike Daniels (Buffalo University - not the Bills - RBs) to coach the Jackets’ RBs.

Daniels played college ball at Cincinnati, and coached Ohio high school football and at Kennesaw State (his North Georgia connection) before Buffalo.

:lsu:

After being rejected by a Kentucky coordinator :uk :lmao:, Kelly is expected to bring in the following coaches for coordinator roles:

Offensive Coordinator: Mike Denbrock (Cincinnati OC), :cincy:previously coached with Kelly at :nd:

Defensive Coordinator: Matt House (KC Chiefs LB coach).

I think the LSU program will be weaker than it’s fairly recent heights for the foreseeable future. Then you’ve got us and OU entering their picture…

Some news from the minor leagues and our neighboring state to the East:

McNeese State hires Gary Goff (Valdosta State) as it’s new head football coach.

Supposedly the highest salary McNeese has ever paid.

Two graduates of McNeese. one famous, one infamous:

Famous - RC Slocum

Infamous - Greg Davis

UMASS (aka "Zoo Mass")

U Mass hires Steve Casula (Michigan analyst) to be the Minutemens' new Offensive Coordinator. Keep an eye on this basketball (and party) school as they continue to take steps to beef up their football program. They're probably already better than U Conn, and could be soon closing in on Boston College as the top New England college football program. They've been putting some heavyweights on their schedule, and could be getting competitive with the big boys soon.

New Head Coach Don Brown, who recently left his DC position at Arizona (and was previously Michigan's DC for about 4 years) to coach at U Mass has coached at New England schools ranging from high schools, to Yale, Brown, Dartmouth, U Conn, and Boston College. Nobody's going to mistake U Mass for Notre Dame or Michigan any time soon, but they're taking the right steps to build up a winner in a region starved for good college football programs.

If it was a "major hire", Linc would have gotten Darrell Dickey as OC, but I can't see Dickey wanting any part of LA.
