Clemson game and preview

I had a buddy at work die out there in Big Ben on his bike. It was at dusk and a deer jumped out in front of him and put his bike on the ground and slide into the rail IIRC.

Sorry about your co-worker MH. Lots of serious dangers in and around Big Bend.

Me and family visited, lodged and hiked in Big Bend about 5 times, years ago when the family was young. We loved it. Beautiful, but rugged, harsh, and very unforgiving. Great sunsets and stars were incredible out there.

You gotta respect it and be prepared for it. @Gylcomer can attest to this.

Any OU linked list of douchbags should include Oklahoma lovin' Vanderbilt graduated Skip Bayless. Switzer is a genunely nice, approachable human being. You can hate him for what he's done for OU and to UT. But you can meet Switzer and listen to him talk and not immediately think "douchebag." Dr. Bay's douchbaggery is obvious within 10 seconds after he opens his mouth ...and can also be conveyed wordlessly.

I'll be kind here in response since you brought him up... Bayless is a Dick.

Never heard of him.

Please tell us about Rick Bayless Mexican Cuisine!?
Here....

I grew up in south Texas and he's in Chicago but his stuff looks pretty damn good.

And just because a Mexican Restaurant is in Texas doesn't necessarily mean it's good either. The best I've had was in Texas, but also some of the worst.

Damn Yankees coming to Texas and opening up a Mexican restaurant need to be sent back to New Jersey.

What was the place in Bellaire that got caught serving horse meat back in the 70s? Was it Panchos?

Then there was the Texas Ex from India that had Marco's. Great guy and his wife was a wonderful lady, but I never ate at one of his locations that I didn't get sick. He also bought James Coney Island.

Some family from India tried to open a mexican food restaurant in Dover DE near the Air Force Base. They insisted in putting curry powder in their sauces...we ate at Taco Bell if we wanted anything resembling mexican food.

Yeah. Many years ago, I went to a Mexican restaurant in DC. It was terrible. The salsa resembled ketchup. That's the last time I went to a Mexican restaurant outside of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, or Mexico.... I did go to Bayless' place in Chicago once and it was good.

Worster.

If it ain't in Texas and it's Mexican food, it don't count
Not only does it not count, it ain't really Mexican food.

The worst food experience in my life involved "Mexican" food in another state. I was on a business trip in Akron, Ohio and my hosts inexplicably decided it would be a good idea to take me to a "Mexican" restaurant. There was no polite way out and with great trepidation, I went. It was worse than I could have imagined. The sauce was marinara sauce. I s**t you not and that was only the beginning.

I WILL say that if we were willing to drive to DC (two hours) , there was a great Mexican food restaurant. It's been too long and can't remember the name. This would have been in the early 90s. We had to travel a few times to go to Walter Reed for our son. We would always stop there.

This was probably during the '80s, when I began travelling to DC several times a year for the next 30 or so years. I never again sought out Mexican food in DC. There were so many other fine places within per diem.

I got the worst case of food poisoning I have ever had (and second place is so far in the rear view mirror I can't even remember it to talk about) from Chicken Mole Enchiladas at a "Mexican" restaurant in Park City, Utah.

I now limit my Mexican food intake to Texas and New Mexico.

To bring the thread back on topic, I’m thinking about having Tex-Mex breakfast on Clemson game day. Maybe some Mmmmigas.

Here are some photos from El Jimador -- best Mexican food in Clemson, SC.

Yum--just look at all of that lettuce and sour cream on top of that burrito/enchilada thing!
