China Warns US to remove THAAD from South Korea

So MC, I got very delayed at the car rental place and missed on my chance to eat real food for my first meal in Spain. The bad news is that I had to eat at McDonalds. Pathetic. The good news is that in Spain McDonald's serves beer.

Oh, you are driving? In Moorish Spain, they designed the streets of the city center as a maze, so that enemies who had broached the walls could not cross the city easily to the other fortified positions. Result? Sheer madness to find hotel by driving car. However I understand that gps maps are much more helpful now. Did not have that option in 1997.

Ah Mcdonalds, the universal constant. I use to work 4 week rotational shifts at a remote international location. The food at the camp was pretty awful and bland. On my trip home, I would connect through Amsterdam Schiphol airport. I am not proud of this, but I would usually make a beeline for the McDonalds and love every bite of that quarter pounder with cheese. I have usually found that American fast food restaurants such as McD and BK are much better in other countries for some reason.
They use real animal fat to fry.

We flew into Madrid last night, and we're driving to Rota today to visit friends. On Monday, we'll drive back to Madrid for the next few days. And I always bring a GPS. I'd be absurdly lost without it.

And there's the money shot. McDonald's was able to expand like Gremlins in a swimming pool and conquer the world because they fried food in 93% beef fat (tallow).

Most olds recall the fries were insanely delicious and had addictive effects the likes of crack cocaine. People often used to wait in line in the drive through just for fries.

Anyone born after 1985 (they switched to vegetable oil in 1990) has no recollection what made McDonald's the powerhouse it is today. Their food today, while still relatively good, isn't even in the same stratosphere as the 80's.

After reading this thread while stuck in Lianyungang, China for the past two weeks, I had to eat at the local McDonalds tonight a few blocks from the hotel. It was pretty good, but obvious to me they used vegetable oil (China doesn't have a large beef industry). Last great fries I've had was in Moscow. I then crossed the street to get an ice cream sundae from Dairy Queen. And in honor of Deez, I'm now having a Duvel at the hotel bar.

Forgot to tell you about lunch: potatoes served on every plate. The olives are fantastic. The fried fish is great (usually large anchovies), but they have a lot of bones.

80's style McDonald's fries and a DQ sundae sounds better than gourmet garlic mashed potatoes and creme brulee (which I dig).

Wash it down with a DQ coke with real cherry flavoring and it's old-school heaven. I'll even take one of those DQ finger monster gel toys to goof off with. :smile1:

Ahhh, Rota. TDY there several times. We would stay at the El Duke, sp?, right on the beach but what made the hotel great was the shower. Several nossils to spray every inch of you was very relaxing after flying all day.

It's pretty beautiful. I think Lajes Field in the Açores was even more beautiful, but if I was told that we were getting moved to Rota, I could definitely enjoy that.

The Chinese haven't invaded anybody.

Have you been to a retailer any time in the last 20 years?

What about our university?

I'm not going all xenophobic ... but just because there's not an armed invasion/occupying force doesn't mean the "People's Republic of Chinois" hasn't invaded.

your general admonition to be "self-equalizing" in strength is absurd.
