China Joe

More Indians died from disease than yankee or Ranger bullets. The ones who moved lived. Ok, they moved from Texas to Oklahoma, but that is not genocide
25% of the cherokees perished in the trail. Andrew Jackson was trying to get rid of a people.

also, didn’t trump recommend that Xi build education camps?

The Comanches got what they deserved. Some of the other tribes, Kiowa for example, not so much. Many tribes helped in fighting the Comanches, which were a despicable tribe in every sense.

I second this statement on the Commanches. They were hated and feared by all. The only group that the Commanches feared were Texans. The Kiowas were cool. Some of the Apaches were cool. The Navajos were definitely cool. The Commanches and the other aggressive plains Indians were pretty much demonic. Torture and sex slavery were encouraged behaviors.

That's what I've always found silly and anti-intellectual about the Howard Zinn leftist view of history. The natives are considered overwhelmingly peaceful and unified while the evil white man is treated as a lone and unmitigated aggressor rampaging and destroying pristine lands and murdering natives every chance they got. There's no nuance at all. In reality, there were big differences in the tribes. Some were peaceful; many were not. Furthermore, they were often at war and did unspeakable things to each other.

They didn’t fear the Texans for awhile. Until the Rangers learned to fight like the Comanches, who learned to fight on horseback thanks, I believe, to the Utes and Spanish, the Texans were taking a whipping. The Colt 5 shot revolver helped turn the tide as well. Comanches burned, disemboweled, scalped, kidnapped, enslaved and raped other Indian tribes and settlers alike.

Oh brother, Comanche bad (and they were) so wipe out all red men. That sounds like what is being said.
In truth there were many good respectable aspects to Native American culture and many not so good. Kinda like America, in fact I guess the Ayatollah feels about us same as Jackson and the Indian.

Culture is like escaping from a bear: You only have to be slightly better at escaping the bear than your nearby acquaintances.

The name of the man who figured it all out was Battlin' Jack Hayes. He is the one who figured out that you never, ever get off your horse when fighting Commanches. The Colt revolver was about to get thrown in the dust bin of history. No one wanted them until Hayes was given a box of them. They were getting rid of trash in their minds. But then Hayes had a lightbulb go off in his head. The future generations of Colt revolvers were modified with improvements that Hayes suggested. Another name of note was Sul Ross, another great Texas Ranger.

Commanches literally cooked their victims on a spit while keeping them alive and mutilating them at the same time. They were super brutal. Only the Aztecs approached their level of evil in my mind.

Yep. The Comanches kicked everyone's a$$es until the Rangers + militia geared up and improved their tactics and increased their numbers. The Comanches could raid 1,000 miles. But supposedly, even the Comanches dreaded crossing the Llano Estacado in the dry season (lest they and their horses die of thirst).

When they wanted to come South (cold weather), they pushed the Apaches off their land and killed them. When they wanted to go North (warm weather), they pushed the Central Plains Indians (Kiowas, Pawnees, Arapaho, etc.) off their land and killed them. Best horsemen in all of Native America. Only the forest terrain kept them from going much further East. The closest thing I can think of in history to the Comanches would be Genghis Khan's horde (there's the China Joe thread connection... :smile1:)or Atilla the Hun's horde. Although they weren't centralized, so they could never really form an empire like Khan and Atilla.

The Comanches are one of the biggest reasons why the Spanish Empire couldn't expand further North and East, why the French couldn't push much West from Louisiana, and why the Mexicans couldn't settle much of Texas North of San Antonio.

The men pictured below were Comanche code talkers in WWII (along with what looks like a few guys in traditional garb). As their language was unknown outside their tribe, they could send and receive radio messages that the Germans and Japanese could not understand. These would be some Oklahomans that won't ever catch any sh!t from me.

The Rangers and other Texans did not whip the Comanches. The US army did. Specifically, Ranald Mackenzie was the one. He did not use search and destroy like the Rangers. He killed their horses en masse in Palo Duro Canyon in the winter.
And the Kiowa were allies of the Comanche. I think some of you may be confusing them with the Caddoes who were farmers and were constantly screwed over by Texans

The Jeep Grand Comanche does have a ring to it. If Jeep was smart, they'd pitch it to some tribes/nations with some royalty $ tied to use of the name. See if any are interested. If none are interested, then name it after some rugged Western place, like Pecos, Yukon (that one's taken), etc.

As a citizen of a Native tribe, I can say that they should reach out to the Seminoles of Florida. They have minimal scruples on such issues. :)

A shared effort at an area prioritized by the Cherokee Nation would be a good PR win.

Battles against the Comanches continued for years after the Palo Duro battle. Yes, the Rangers did a majority of the heavy lifting when it came to fighting Comanches.

The Rangers and militia were instrumental. Of course, almost wiping out the bison had something to do with it.

Hasn’t that shipped kind of sailed? They’ve been using it since 1974.

The Redskins had been using that name since 1933. The Atlanta Braves started using that name in 1912. It's never too late for woke idiots to get mad about something.

My wife and I were talking about this last night. Ironically, I was defending the Chiefs, the Braves, etc.

[Obama voice]Look, Redskins is a slur. Regardless of any other argument. [/Obama voice]. There is not a lot of agreement on this topic across Indian Country but almost universally, Redskins was disliked. Logos like Chief Wahoo don't help either. The opinions of Oklahoma indians are a little bit of a curve ball. There's not much racial stigma here because many of us have some level of indian heritage rolling through our ancestry.com tree and even our natives are red state voters. Also, there are high schools that are 60% native and "Indians" is somewhat descriptive.

Woooah oooooh!
China Joe!

He just ordered a review of US supply chains for critical items (including pharmaceuticals) and rare earth materials. China is dominating these fields. Joe wants more made here.

Maybe he’s not China Joe after all.
He got a bad plate of beef chop suey courtesy of the CCP, so now he’s reversing course.
We’ll see if it’s window dressing or real.

Honestly, I get the idea that Redskins is a slur. However, actual Native Americans have been polled on this, and they largely aren't offended by it.

The reason why isn't that they "like" the term. It's because they understand that context and intent matter a lot. Most rational adults understand this as well. For example, the word "fat" isn't offensive, but if I walk up to a heavy chick and call her "fat," it is.

Woke white people are too "smart" for this. That's why people in their world treat a guy who uses the N-bomb as a point if clarification the same way they'd treat a guy who walks up to a black guy and calls him the N-bomb, meaning he gets shitcanned and loses his career. Most Native Americans aren't this stupid and/or power hungry.

It didn't take much to hijack this thread from Biden supporting genocide to America bad....Whites killed Native Americans.

Yeah, you should scroll up and see who brought up the topic.

Also, Andrew Jackson's an *******. Sincerely, a descendant of William Weatherford. :)
