Chiles not looking happy?

There is no I in team. All of us who have played have heard that saying many times. That has to be true if the team is to perform at its best.

Having said that, at a big time football program like UT, many of these players are preparing themselves for an NFL career. Chiles certainly has the raw ability to be included in that group (there are not that many 6'2", 215 pound guys who can run a sub 4.4).

We remember Jevan Snead, who transferred out of the program once he realized that he was irrevocably beaten out by Colt for the QB slot. Jevan is now doing well at Ole Miss in the SEC. By transferring to Ole Miss, Jevan hugely improved his chances at playing QB in the NFL Shouldn't Jevan have put his own professional career ahead of UT's best interests? Isn't it smart for any player to do that? It is not good for the university but why should an individual put the best interests of the university ahead of his own best interests?

The player risks his health for very little reward while the university is accumulating huge profits from the football program. The university helps the player prepare for the NFL while the player helps the university win games. When these two goals come in conflict, the player needs to think long term big picture.

My advice to any player in high school or college is to not get caught up in the rah-rah stuff, don't get totally caught up in the short term. If you get hurt, make sure you don't unnecessarily make the injury worse by playing when you shouldn't. You are going to be stuck with that body for the rest of your life so treat it well.

Sherrod will have his chance when Colt is gone. I can't even imagine what a Q package with JC and Sherrod would look like. Awesome.

that kind of depends on how good Gilbert is when he comes in and where the coaches put him on the depth chart. Hopefully, Gilbert redshirts
