Chiles not looking happy?

I think many of you are missing the point. The point isn't whether or not Chiles deserves more playing time. The point is whether the playing time he gets is going to be quality or not. We had the same problem two seasons ago. When Colt got injured against K-State it had a big effect on the results of that game, as well as the A&M games.

I am NOT saying Chiles should be getting more playing time. Colt hasn't done anything to warrant that. But he should be allowed to run the same offensive plays Colt has the chance to run.

For all of you saying that Chiles hasn't earned his spot as QB2:

We don't care what you think.
The nation doesn't care what you think.

Until you say that you've watched our football team practice everyday, you have no rights on saying which QB is better than the other behind McCoy. Mack Brown and Greg Davis have watched every practice Chiles has given UT.

They get paid in a year more than most or your houses are worth.
The nation cares about what they think.

I'll say it one last time. Until you have seen Chiles practice on a daily basis, or have seen him take significantly more snaps than he has, then don't make assumptions about his performance. Let Mack get paid to do that.

I talked to John's uncle, Jackie. He's not happy.

"He came into the game in the fourth quarter and ran the same 3 plays? Outrageous. Egregious. Preposterous."

Were I him, I would not be happy. Were he at most other schools he would be getting a lot of time at some position. He is not being developed here.

This could change quickly here, and I hope it does. I mean I hope Davis finds a way to involve him in the offense. He can help the team. Its Davis' job to find the best way. Otherwise we lose him, I think.

Un poquito de todos....

Chiles came into the FAU game after the second series of the first quarter. He ended up completing 4 of 5 passes including a 39 yard TD.

I think the poster talking about exposing the Q was spot on. Why put it on film against UTEP? And if not the Q, then what purpose does he serve other than the obvious? I think the coaches told him to do exactly what he did, hand the ball off, and end the game. Why risk Colt?

Concerns of pissed off sulking are pure speculation

Lots of season left....Moving on to Arky

All in all, this is one of the worst threads ever. Flames, ignorance, speculation, sarcasm. Wow.

I think 'most' fans' sentiment can basically be summed up by this (take a deep breath): We're frustrated that John may be frustrated that he doesn't feel he's getting enough playing time by decision of the coaching staff that has a dubious record of unfulfilled backup qb promises for playing time in these types of qb 'strategy' situations but has made the promise of a fancy playbook this year which hasn't been used yet so we'll have to wait to see how it plays out again this season and in the meantime threads like this are started which are a futile attempt at coming to any meaningful conclusion so they suck.

Does that about sum it up?

I think we'll see more of Chiles next week and the week after. Chances are, the offense spent most of this past week learning how to run our base set of plays against the 3-3-5, not including the Q package. Colt said himself that "there is a lot left" in the Q package, so there is no way they learned all of that to never be used.

In high school and college, John's best weapon has been his running ability. John gave our school many more problems as a junior (running and receiving) than as a senior quarterback. However, if Mack says that John will be given more opportunity to play, then I would have expected to see him more by now.

The team didn't put the game away until the 4th quarter. Then on UTEPs first play after McCoy's last drive they fumbled and Muckleroy's recovery for a TD happen. Suddenly, in 3-4 plays it went from a 15 point lead to a 29 point lead and running the full offense at that point would have been a case of running up the score.

We've had the same issue with not putting away weak opponents quickly the last 2 years and it has had an impact on getting the backup QB playing time.

I do not like this thread and or the timing of this thread.

Some folks seem to have a bad memory and forget the bad chemistry going on between certain guys on the offense the last time we played arky in DKR.

ONLY ONE AXIOM NEED TO BE REMEMBERED FOR THIS GAME;

PUT THE TEAM FIRST ABOVE ALL. PERIOD!

Kapesh?
