The fact that Mike Locksley might have been anywhere in Memorial Stadium besides working in a concession stand really bothers me. This guy actually made John Blake look smart. I hope his kid is different, but I would never have encouraged him.

As for Kyler Murray, he's the kind of good that you cut someone to make room for - yes, Jackie Sherrill style. Not suggesting cutting Gentry. I never bought in to that Mack Brown ******** of "commit and we won't take another QB". That's how we got where we are - Gilbert and Gilbert. Times change, but one year DKR took something like 8 or 9 HS QBs. of course he had 50 recruits, but the results was the turnaround that started the 30 game winning streak.

And DKR recruited Ted Constanzo because Dave Campbell Football named him Texas best high school qb....unfortunately he couldn't run the wishbone....I'm amazed that programs have qb's prepared to play...our qb completion transfers....Charlie strong....recruit a bunch of em and keep em and coach em

^^ The thing is, you need to have some decent 3-stars recruited and kept trained. They won't be hot commodities anybody would be after if they fail to be the starter. This guy Cardale Jones was brought in along with Braxton Miller in Ohio States' 2011 recruiting class and was there when Meyer got there in 2012. Now he has taken then to the NC game in his 2nd start.
Getting some decent arms for depth is what Watson and Charlie just did when they also took Matthew Merrick in (offering either schol if we have one left in the end, or a greyshirt). A guy who wants to be a longhorn and will wait for a chance and stay prepared. In the late Mack years we didn't have enough such guys join us.
