“Do you believe in miracles?…..YES!!”Every stat tells me that OSU is the better team - and the stats are pretty convincing. My head says OSU will win; Texas will have to play a near-perfect game to be competitive (and the last "near-perfect game" is a distant memory). My heart says that miracles do happen (it worked for the USA hockey team in the 1980 Winter Olympics) - and I'm going out on the limb for a miracle:
Texas 31
OSU 27
Not the same thing. When I was trudging though the Sahara desert I was hopeful for some shade and rain. But under a cloudless sky I was not optimistic that it was going to.0855
Isn't hopeful optimistic? It is ok to be optimistic.
I am sure Sark and the team are confident they will win.
Your last two sentences show your real feeling and are all that matter.
We will win .Hook'em !
Whatever. LOL. You are most certainly entitled to your interpretation.0855
I understand your experience( why were you trudging thru the Sahara desert anyway?)
but if you look up the definition of optimistic in Webster it lists hopeful.
And I stand by my reading of your post.
You are optimistic which is a good thing.
Can never have too much.
if I had been 25% as motivated and committed as these young men are when I was that age, I can't imagine what might have been.Don't forget, most of these players are 19-21 years-old. Do most of you remember how stupid you were at that age? I cringe at some of my decisions back then. OSU is human. We can win. Hook 'em!!
I don't know what to think. Even in 2006 I believed Texas could/would win when no one gave us a chance and questioned why an undefeated Texas was there over better 1-loss teams. tOSU beat the hell out of Oregon and Tenn. but I have no barometer of either. Tenn was at their place but jeez the week before tOSU lost to Mich. at home and not in a good way. why would losing 4 straight be any less motivation than a playoff? Got me. Longhorns won a squeaker, in overtime to ASU. My 2 cents, ASU QB and RB played out of their minds, It was a great personal performance by both, but they lost and in the end, QE and his band acted like no big deal in the end. The ending was, "of course, I will intercept this ball in overtime, that is how WE roll. Texas had a team that would have lost but won together without drama, and ASU could have won but lost with drama if you watched closely. My guess is an emotionally gassed ASU had no chance in the next round win or lose.Every stat tells me that OSU is the better team - and the stats are pretty convincing. I think the thing that scares me more than Jeremiah Smith is that the seniors on tOSU circled the wagons after the Michigan loss and called on each other for accountability and all that voodoo behind-the-scenes stuff and it seems to have worked. When you have that kind of talent AND leadership, it has a snowball effect. The Oregon game really only scratched the surface of that effect because the game was over 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter.I don't know what to think. I am not saying Texas mails it in, I think they never stop believing they will win, and Sark Exudes that confidence. Bad **** happens. hike the ball for the next play. Kinda scary for them if you ask me. This team, this culture is not without mistakes but their sh*t is professional.
I always liked & @ times wish we stilll self referenced as "Varsity"...because we are.Showing my age here, but when I grew up people referred to Texas simply as “The University”. I guess it changed when every school in Texas decided to be a “University”.
i still refer to Texas as “the University” when asked where I went to school.
Burton of OTF on the kicking situation...
"While I don’t expect there will be an announcement of any sort, I am hearing that Will Stone is a very realistic possibility to take over at placekicker for Bert Auburn this week. Stone has taken multiple reps with the first team unit on field goals during practices. And no, that is not a common occurrence. In fact, it’s the first time that Stone has taken first team reps all year long."
Not to be nitpicky, 37-34 is impossible in OT. If they go in tied at 31, one kicks a FG, the other kicks no extra point after TD. I like your score and optimism though. AITA? ProbablyTexas 37
OSU 34
In overtime
Yeah. Unfortunately, Texas' big uglies got their butts kicked when we tried to run the ball against a smaller ASU defensive front.I think the thing that scares me more than Jeremiah Smith is that the seniors on tOSU circled the wagons after the Michigan loss and called on each other for accountability and all that voodoo behind-the-scenes stuff and it seems to have worked. Will Howard seems to have gotten his **** together for the playoffs, and while I was never scared of him at KSU, he was respectable. Now with that line and skill position talent, his job is a lot easier than when we beat him with our backup QB last year.
Their D is going to make our run game look even worse than it did this past week, if that's even possible.
