Cedric Benson is a genius: arrested again

Maybe Ced's partying ways are the primary cause for his lack of production on the football field. To Ced: while the situation is not good it's not the end of the line. Get it together - it's not too late.

orngblud has a point- let he who has not gotten multiple DUI arrests, resisted arrest, served jail time for breaking and entering, and laughed at walkons for celebrating a Rose Bowl win cast the first stone.

I love how any thread on a topic like this, once it gets long enough, always ends up having people making statements like getting arrested twice in a month is not a big deal, or driving drunk is not a big deal, or doing a little meth is not a big deal, or kicking someone in the balls even when you're a dude is not a big deal, etc.

"Ah...but in this country a man is innocent until PROVEN guilty...not just because some cop says he thinks a guy was guilty..."

Proven guilty of DRIVING under the INFLUENCE. (not proven guilty of driving while **** faced drunk)
Once you take a drink you are under the influence of alcohol. Once you get behind the wheel you are driving under the influence.

I'm sure this was already hashed out on another "boating" related thread

, but could someone please provide the legal definitions of DUI vs DWI, and how alcohol may or may not be applied to either term. thx.

What is lame is people acting like this is okay since many others are lame enough to do it in their lives. And some people are mature and smart enough to not drive drunk and therefore never have to worry about this. There have been stories posted about commoners getting multiple DWI or alcohol related trouble on other boards. They get harshed on too.

Also, some posters themselves ask for help on getting out of one and they are not lauded as a hero either. The point many people have here is that if you know you are being watched, you are a celebrity or athlete of high profile, you are pretty ******* stupid to pull **** like this since more eyes are on you at almost all times.

In this particular circumstance you are an athlete under much scrutiny, lacking performance for the money you were given in a city with a very fickle fanbase, and you have been in trouble for this and other things before. So I guess common sense or common man cannot see why somebody would not stay the hell home, stay away from any temptation or issue that would make that spotlight shine so bright on you that you may get burned by it.

If you drink and drive, you suck. It really is that simple. If you have the money to afford a limo or a sedan with a driver so that you stay out of hot water until your other transgressions and speeding tickets back home which you are on probation for go away, yet you don't...you are being stupid.

Cedric seems to have a chip on his shoulder going all the way back to his playing days here, maybe before. There is a reason he was nicknamed, "Cancer" by the team. Hopefully he will find a way to be a person, an athlete who is talked about for what he does good on the field and off. He has not shown that ability thus far.

Being a tough guy and calling a spade a spade are two different things. The issue most people here seem to have is with this guy is A. He is a poor representative of this university and B. he is wasting God given talent and fortune that many would not take for granted a single day.

If you think drinking and driving is fine, that's another discussion. If you think that everyone out there goes out and gets blitzed and drives home on a regular basis, that's another discussion. This guy is throwing away his career and millions, if you're a big homer of Benson's you should at least see that. For those defending this guy, do you think it's a good PR move to be in constant legal trouble? do you believe he is going to become a better football player?

Ced is making it harder and harder for me to root for him. He is one of my favorite longhorns of all time...

But Its impossible to defend him anymore

Here's my problem with the whole situation - Ced is friends with a guy (who I am friends with) who owns a friggin limo service in Austin.

So you are Ced B. You just got a DWI on the boat. You know Goddell is cracking down. You know the Bears aren't happy with you. So what do you do? You got out, have some drinks, don't bother calling anyone to give you a ride, don't bother calling your buddy who can send a limo to get you.....and you get popped.

I feel bad for him b/c I have met him and he seems like a good guy. And he is pissing his NFL career away over really dumb ****. It's just real dumb and he needs to wake up.

Geez Badger. You sure know how to pep us up. We were talking about him having money to rent a limo or a sedan service. But damn, to be friends with a guy with a Limo company, who would likely cut him a deal if not better....ugh.

Wait a second, after reading the boating thread I thought we all agreed that he only got busted because (i) he is not white and (ii) all Austin cops and all Travis County law enforcement people were corrupt, racist and out to bust UT athletes?

It almost sounds like some of you might actually think CB could potentially be at least part of the problem. Crazy.
