Bush to end war in 2009, keep AMT

Ag- do you tell you children they did a good job whn they come home with a low grade? Do you priase them for getting the problems wrong in math because they didn't read the question? My guess is probably not. I don't need to say Bush sucks in every thread, it's just really, really hard to find stuff he does well. If you can do math, and you look at what bush is proposing in his budget and don't understand it's full of ******** assumptions, ******** analysis and ******** pipe dream premises relating to the cost side of the equation then I really can't help you out.... anymore than I can say the sky is maroon...

it's hard to face the facts Ag with Kids but the President you have stood shoulder to shoulder with on most issues is a very bad decision maker. PERHAPS it is because he lies to himself regarding the basic premises he uses to reach his conclusions? Or we can say... "George W. Bush presented a budget that any CEO in the country would be wise to use in forecasting the future of their company.... Funny Ag- I didn't hear you say any such thing... so I assume the lack of saying anything positive about Bush's silliness of a budget ,means that you too think his premises and forecasts are ********...

I certainly do not want to put words into your mouth Ag nor create a strawman as is your habit, so please let us know how your analysis differs from my own regarding the premises and substance of Bush's budget proposal. Let's see if you can do something other than attack strawmen relating to the subject at hand, which is the Bush Administration budget proposal?

So let me get this straight. Bush submits a budget that from all accounts is a huge stinking pile of poo, and the Bush apologists defense is that it is ok because Bush is a lame duck and the budget is just a "wish list" anyway and doesn't mean anything? Seriously?

I guess that's the part that I don't get- since everyone is acknowleging this as the starting point for a negotiation, why would loyal Republicans not feel betrayed by a starting position that raises taxes on the middle class by allowing the AMT to expand?
If it's only a wish list, why wish for that?

Kyree- I acccused Bozo of intenionally beign obtuse (b/c I know he's smarter then that) and now will accuse you of the same.

The AMT waiver is not going away. Republican's are in favore of these patches b/c they like lower taxes- democrats b/c it hits blue states really hard (and it's their base more so) so,

Bush is doing exactly what I used to do with my little bro- if the choices from my parents were pizza or hamburgers and I wanted Pizza I consistently said I wanted hamburgers, knowing my little brother was argumentative enough that he'd say Pizza just to go against me and I'd get what I wanted, plus a chip for future negotiations about something I cared more about. This is what's going on here. You know it as well as I do.

Hell, Charlie freaking Rangell spearheaded the charge to get rid of the AMT this time around- he's about as liberal as you can get. It's tit for tat partisanship so he can get something else he wants in effect.

Again- I'm not praising this budget or the amount of money spent during his administration. We added another freaking entitlement that I'm going to have to pay for, and spent a **** ton on a war, that though I support from a principled standpoint (attempting to make the world a better place) probably won't lead to much of a ROI for us. My tax cuts are going away, and if I read the tea leaves right I'm about to get stuck up the *** with a social security hike that I will have to support, but am not likely to ever see a dime from by the time I retire. So I'm not happy about his financial record.

But, submitting a budget, especially with a lame duck, unpopular president and a Congress that despises him, is borderline irrelevant. He's going through the motions and every sentient being with an ounce of common sense recognizes this.

As to not budgeting for Iraq past 09- maybe he's taking Obama at his word that he's going to have the troops home within a year if the election is won by them. No need to have a linie item in the budget for a war that might not be going on.

Truly, he probably doesn't want to put that cost into the budget b/c it's going to be a really freaking big cost- so it's easier to fudge on it. Note- I am not saying that this is ok- as I'd like to see every dollar spent above what is on the budget be a replacement for a dollar projected to spend (I.E- if you want to add a new program you gotta subtract from an old one) but I doubt that ever freaking happens.
