Bru McCoy back to USC?

Loved my parents and we got along great but when I turned 18, I couldn't wait to go off to college and be away from home.... I was not homesick at all - but I was careful and mature to not let my scholastic work get in the way of my social life! :smile1:

Yes, Yes, Yes. Some of you met my daughter Anna. She graduated High School and wants to join the Army Reserves before she goes to College. Mom and I are fine with it. We made her watch Private Benjamin with us over the weekend, just for grins. She is a blonde and all. Anyway, I doubt she will try to change her mind, but if she did....we would not allow it!

My .02 cents.

I was taught at an early age that decision making can be hard based on the facts at hand. The important thing is to make a decision and stick with it. If you have to change your mind as facts come out then so be it, but you can't go back and forth on issues. Some times you make bad decisions and you have to learn from those. This kid needs someone giving him better advice or something.

I have heard rumors about breastfeeding until 18 or 19 years old. I never did believe them. Now I am not sure. :yikes:

I don’t quite understand why the program is falling all over itself for this player. It smacks of desperation. Perhaps there is something that we are missing. Maybe an eligibility complication? Homesickness? If so, I suggest that he grow up.

This just seems excessive to me. If a player needs to be coddled, let some other program coddle him.

:arrow-up: Well said @dukesteer ... that’s been my impression as well.

Maybe what we could be missing is that Herman & co’s visit to him is just to reassure a confused kid, not to beg him to stay. I’m just speculating, of course, but Tom Herman has struck me as the kind of man who genuinely cares about these kids, and wouldn’t try to get anyone to do anything that would go against their best interest.

On The Horn yesterday Anwar made the point that after a year and a half of tireless recruiting what is one more trip to Cali. I don't disagree and it seems worth it to me to try. If Bru agreed to meet then he must still be unsure. Why just give up?

At this point, I am hoping he goes. We don't need this drama on our team.
I'm not anywhere close to feeling this way. The "drama" has been in all the breathless news stories and speculation about what he might do, not necessarily in what he has actually done, or why he has done it. Don't let the sports media and the gossip-mongers get you prematurely worked up.

Agree. I don't recall seeing him say anything at all to the media or on social media. Seems like he is confused for whatever reason and is trying to do what's best for him. I'd just rather that be at Texas.

Herman is a million times more informed on the situation than me. But if he and others make this trip and McCoy returns to USC he'll have egg all over his face for years. As dukesteer it smacks of desperation

Yep, being an arrogant quitter is how he should approach this instead. If he doesn't beg to be here then screw him. :rolleyes1: I've seen lots of losers not try something because they were afraid of what others might think. If Bru were out there talking crap or playing the schools off one another I'd have a different opinion. This feels different to me.

McCoy chose to back out of his commitment to USC. Apparently he's doing the same to the 'horns. If pursuing that kind of character is the path you choose so be it. By the way several posters before me expressed the same opinion as me. Any particular reason why you chose my post or did I just get lucky?

Wish Sterns Didn’t Tweet That Now We Look Like Florida In A Way But If He Is Gone Good Luck To Him And Next Man Up

A coach can't preach team and family, then not try to work on issues that arise. I don't care if we're the 04-05 Horns. These are relationships.

I don't like the willy nilly

Not Errbody? I thought Errbody?

McCoy's actions indicate he has little interest in being part of the family. He can't possibly be good enough for any head coach to go to hat in hand.

Mookie Cooper was committed to us. Did a caravan of UT people go to change his mind? What exactly is going on here?
We don’t know, could be two very different situations with Cooper and McCoy. I trust that Tom Herman is handling it the right way. Hopefully we get the full story sometime soon.

Of course none of us are privy to the intimate details of the situation but we may not need to be. Much is apparent.

I stand by my previous observations although, like everyone else, I’d love to have Bru here. But not with the drama. And not with the uncertainty.

Sterns tweet is telling. This place isn’t for everyone. We want players who want to be here. Preferably players that bleed burnt orange. They don’t have to grow up as Horns, but they need to be committed, to buy-in, once they get here. Ricky didn’t grow up a Longhorn...

Players lacking commitment, or conflicted with uncertainty, are not healthy for the program. They can poison others. While I’m not saying that Bru would “spoil the whole bunch,” I don't like the message that is being sent to the other players.

Herman is a smart guy so one has to assume that he knows what he’s doing. But again, I don’t like the message being sent. If the issue was inconsequential to other players, why would a star like Sterns send such a tweet?

If McCoy did not want this drama, he could stop it all right now with one tweet. He has not done that. I think he digs the drama a bit.

Re: Sterns tweet. Could there be a work ethic / dedication issue in play here? If so, I don't think USC football is a country club either... Herman has never had the "soft" tag that the opposition put on Mack Brown.

On another note, if it turns out Bru went back to live in California to be near a relative who got sick with cancer or something like that, we'll feel like a bunch of a$$holes.

Chop, If that was the case I don't think TH and company would be going after him. Just my 2 cents. But I have been wrong before.

The truth will come out soon. I’m not speculating because I have no idea why Bru is doing this. But I am raising a 19 yr old so I could guess. I’ll just wait. I can’t imagine how this is UT Austin’s fault or the Herman Staff’s for that matter. Maybe it’s a family situation, who knows. We’ll know pretty soon.
