BIG XII Tournament Thread

Did anybody else notice the older Iowa State men sitting behind the announcer’s table acting like 12 year olds? I was embarrassed for them.

Yeah probably too harsh. Guess I was referring to the bad passing/turnovers when nobody was even guarding us, the shot while laying on our back, the couple of air balls (we have at least one every game). Sometimes we just look like a YMCA team, but again, we manage to win so……but yes, TCU was tough. Probably the toughest team in the conference.
 
3 games in a row with great defense, something I have been waiting for all year. This is a positive sign for the tourney. The last 3 games we have given up 59, 47, 60 points. Before that we avg approx 72 points a game which is too much. The games we lost we gave up over 80 a game. The good defenses avg giving up low to mid 60’s a game. We have to play good defense to make a run deep in the tournament. I am very encouraged for a good run. We have plenty of talent, experience, offensive firepower. Teams have off nights shooting the ball and can face good defensive teams so consistent defense keeps you in every game. Carr has been a little off offensively but he will come out of it. Great defense is the key. Let’s roll
 
The announcer just mentioned that the Tigers are in the NCAA tournament, win or lose today, so it really doesn’t matter. Probably saving themselves for March Madness.
 
I think it's obvious that we want this game more than KU does. KU is playing some version of street ball and flailing passes. We're trying our darndest to win this, but I don't think this is really affecting anything for NCAA tournament seeding.
 
Ku is playing for the number one overall seed.
Number one overall gets to choose their bracket. That would be big.

Nope, I think they already have it. There's no way they give it to a 10-loss Rick Barnes. The pollsters have all but admitted that no one's excited to give one to UCLA either.

Edit: nvm you said "overall." My bad. I don't think they'd get that either way.
 
Halftime thoughts:
  • Everything should keep getting funneled through Carr. I'd love to see Rice get more looks on pick-and-pops or deep corners.
  • I highly doubt Dick has a bad 2nd half like he did in the 1st. That's the difference right now.
  • If Carr/Hunter can get Yesufu to struggle a little more on the offensive end, I think we can maintain the lead.
  • Disu, Bishop, Cunningham, and Mitchell just need to keep doing what they're doing. Playing gritty and not making mistakes.

If we win tonight, that means we beat a team that is a consensus 1 seed 2 out of 3 times this year with almost identical records and strength of schedule. How would we not be a 1 seed?
