BIG XII Tournament Thread

Dominate final 76 -56 of KU for the B12 Tournament title.

KU probably saving themselves for March madness....

One takeaway that's going to be tough for tournament opponents to plan for is what to do when Timmy Allen returns this week. What a good run we've had.

What a great win. Our first non asterisk Big 12
Championship. Carr back into form
and Terry coached a great game plan.

if we continue to play like this, we have a shot at the final 4.

Super happy to get this win. But now for a reality check, this team absolutely must get to the sweet 16 or this weekend, heck this outstanding regular season is a disappointment. That’s a crappy standard and isn’t remotely fair but the reality is this team will be judged by its next 2, 3, 4, hopefully 5-6 games.

Looks like folks had minds made up before game that KU #1 seed and Horns #2. They’re not even considering a change.
Just saw on espn KU predicted #1 #1. Texas beats the hell out of them at home and has a similar schedule and beats them twice in 8 days. BS but if Texas can stay the course wont matter. This team is good.

and has a similar schedule
Uhm....

Their Quad 1 record is a very impressive 17-6 (74%). Ours, while not shabby, is significantly worse at 13-8 (62%). We have better success head-to-head, but they have a significantly better overall resume.

Our record in Quad 1 games (quantity and results) stacks up better against the other 3 teams on the presumptive 1 line:

Purdue 10-4 (71%)
Alabama 10-5 (67%)
Houston 6-1 (86%)
Also of note: Purdue and Houston have losses outside of Quad 1, while Kansas, Bama, and Texas do not.

For what it is worth I really do not know what to make of Bama. But I know Horns beat Kansas by 20 in Kansas City. Crazy.

Do you think a loss tomorrow by Bama or Purdue would have any impact?

For Bama, I think it should but wouldn't.
For Purdue, I think it should and might, especially if the loss is bad enough. A second Quad 2 loss would be tough to explain away for a #1 seed.

EDIT: Penn State's NET is #54 through yesterday's game. If today's win moves them into the top 50, Purdue will get credit for a Quad 1 game tomorrow.

Randy hit a 3 to to push Zona past UCLA.

could this get us a #1 seed?

Man what a time to hit his ONLY FG of the entire game. That guy has ice in his veins.

But no, I don't think it's enough to get us a #1 seed. Houston and Bama have sewn them up. KU probably got theirs by making it to the conference tournament final. I'd still put Purdue above us.

Weird things can happen... Sasser can be declared out for the rest of the season, which might make the selection committee nervous about keeping an AAC team at a #1. Same thing happened to Cincinnati when Kenyon Martin was there. I still think UCLA is ahead of us because of the 29 wins.

Look, I don’t care if we’re #1 or #2 seed BUT…… we just POUDED KU in their backyard!

That’s a FACT!

Don't forget the importance of their head coach having a stroke mid tourney and is in the hospital. It was a beat down but there is a major distraction at hand too.
