Big 12 Tourney

This was a HUGE win. Into the winners bracket we go and stay. TCU and the Pokes must now use up their #3 pitchers and further eat up their bullpens. Meanwhile, we rest.

While we may go with Morehouse and bullpen by committee, think of what OSU or TCU will be down to…. And they’ll have to beat us twice.

Give it up for Lucas Gordon who has absolutley been nails all year long and was again today. This guy saved Texas' season several times and between him and Hansen, Texas has an incredible one two punch. But now we see the little sisters of the poor rest of our staff as we wont see either hansen or Gordon again in Arlington nor should we.
Gordon is the top pitcher in the conference this year—per the stats sheet. And errbody in the conference got to see it today. He’s Glavinesque—throw some fastballs painting the corners and then give them changeups, changeups, and kill them with some more changeups. I noticed several times today he got the batters waaaaaay out in front of the changeup. And those with a more sophisticated baseball eye than me probably saw others.

Interestingly, I honestly thought we might see Tristan as a starter if Texas made it to Sunday presuming that he didnt pitch again after yesterday. That is now out but does mean he is available in relief on Saturday. The 9 a.m. start blows but the benefit of the day off cant be overstated. Ton of family stuff on tap but I will be monitoring the phone so keep those updates coming Saturday morning!:hookem:

Update: Looks like Texas is the 12:30 Saturday game so a little easier to follow along but keep the updates coming anyway gents!

Further update: Nope Texas is the freaking 9 a.m. game Saturday.

Incidentally Texas has now won 7 straight and is 10-2 since May 1. The Horns are one of hottest teams in country as we head into the part of the season that defines your season.

Stevens learning you can be a stud with a fraction of the pitches.
Be interesting to see Pitching by committee on Saturday. Probably Morehouse/Olivares/Soutard/LBJ/Harrison/Nixo and Stevens

Stevens saved that game and that was monumental for him and the postseason. Stevens may well be back, finally. Curious to see who gets the start Saturday, although I want to win the game and I’m sure coach does to, it’s imperative that nixon gets to see more innings Saturday but so does morehouse and Harrison. I expect as heavy a dose of those three as possible Saturday.

They just have to beat us once. The game after that will be joker’s wild from our pitching staff.

You don’t have to persuade me.

Yes our our coaches stopped putting in pitchers who gave up grand slams. Imagine that.

If we lose, who did we put in as pitcher then? The “Grand Slam, thank you ma’am” staff?

But it will also be such for OSU or TCU’s pitching staffs.

If Stevens is on, he might be first out of the pen to relieve Morehouse. And he can go plenty of innings as he only went 1 1/3 tonight. I think we see Olivarez and Southard a fair amount too.

Yeah, Harrison was uncharacteristically bad today. He only pitched a little bit so we’ll see a lot more of him this weekend.

Random observations of representative samples of random young women wearing opposing teams’ clothing/hats here at GLOBE LIFE Park today.

TCU — pretty to very pretty
Tech — pretty but often slutty looking
OU — see Tech above, but without the pretty part.

Which of the above is easier? Never mind, you don’t have to answer that.

Very nice job today. And the RPI improves as a result. Would be great to go ahead and win the Tournament - that would pretty much cinch a Regional (and maybe a Super).

Sometimes gotta let the sticks do the talking. It’s sometime.
