BHO's Historic Spending Binge...

You're more than disillusioned. A balanced assessment involves the thesis, antithesis and sythesis. I do my part to promote a balanced assessment in this forum.

I posted this in another thread. How do you argue with the figures taken directly from the whitehouse.gov website?

If you give Bush the 2009 figures, Obama's administration marginally decreased spending between 2009 and 2010, after that he INCREASED spending every year since and is estimated to do so again in 2012. His own claim now is that his reckless spending is INCREASING at a slower rate than previous administrations. Statistically that could be true the rate is smaller, but that doesn't change the fact that this administration is out spending every other administration every year and spending at higher deficit levels than every other administration save the one outlier of 2009.

You are defending the article which is trying to convince the public that Obama is not spending at incredible levels. And the support is that the "rate of increase" is less than previous years. He IS spending at levels unheard of prior to 2009. He is spending more and at higher deficit levels than any other president ever except for the 2009 year. How can you possibly think that because his rate of increase is less, he is somehow more fiscally conservative than we want to give him credit for. This is lunacy.

Since 2000: (in millions)
______Total Taxes____Total Spending____Surplus / (Deficit)
2000 --- $2,025,191 --- $1,788,950 --- $236,241
2001 --- $1,991,082 --- $1,862,846 --- $128,236
2002 --- $1,853,136 --- $2,010,894 --- $(157,758)
2003 --- $1,782,314 --- $2,159,899 --- $(377,585)
2004 --- $1,880,114 --- $2,292,841 --- $(412,727)
2005 --- $2,153,611 --- $2,471,957 --- $(318,346)
2006 --- $2,406,869 --- $2,655,050 --- $(248,181)
2007 --- $2,567,985 --- $2,728,686 --- $(160,701)
2008 --- $2,523,991 --- $2,982,544 --- $(458,553)
2009 --- $2,104,989 --- $3,517,677 --- $(1,412,688)
2010 --- $2,162,724 --- $3,456,213 --- $(1,293,489)
2011 --- $2,303,466 --- $3,603,061 --- $(1,299,595)
2012*--- $2,468,599 --- $3,795,547 --- $(1,326,948)

*2012 is an estimate by the CBO

Prior to 2009: (Bush is included in this and get fair criticism)
no admin EVER reached 3 trillion in spending
no admin EVER reached 1 trillion in annual deficit

Every year since 2009:
admin spent AT LEAST than 3 trillion
admin racked up AT LEAST 1 trillion deficit

This is as black and white as it gets. Obama certainly has some excuses and reasons for this level of spending but no one can deny the crazy levels of spending.

If you think that just because the figures came from whitehouse.org that they are unquestionably accurate you are delusional.

The Revenue numbers tell an interesting tale as well. Obama's Revenue numbers haven't even reached the Bush Revenue numbers during the recession.

It tells me the tax rates are good where they are at for all people and that government needs to get out the way of business.

I know it is more fun to bwaa haa haa, and call people you disagree with "retards" (me, I prefer to just question their ability to read simple English), but I think the latest politifact posting is pretty well put together, including the input from the Cato Institute.

You must enjoy looking like a fool. Here is what I wrote:

Since the laugh factor at Satch is somewhat gone now that the beans have been spilt, here is a blogger response (not worth my time):

Nutting has a half a point: Federal spending did rise considerably during the 2009 fiscal year: Between 2001 and 2008, federal outlays (spending) rose from $1.8 trillion to $2.9 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s historical spending data. That’s a steep enough rise. But it’s nothing compared to what happened during the next year: In 2009, outlays spiked, rising from the $2.9 trillion spent in 2008 to $3.5 trillion...

dh- I must confess that I didn't read your post. I stopped when I saw the figures were from the WH. I assumed that they were either totally made up or totally skewed. I'll try to read more next time.

However, I wonder how those figures made it on the website. Has some minion been fired? Have they been changed? I'm sure bag has called the WH to make sure they post numbers more in line with the "BO saved the world" theme.
