Benson was waived by the Bears

Benson dug his own hole, and it's gonna take more than a lame apology to get him out of it. Anyone on here worrying about where he continues his NFL career has too much time on their hands, and way too much empathy for someone who doesn't seem capable of making good decisions.

He started wearing out his welcome with his contract hold out....follow that up with a few terrible years and now his off the field trouble, it was only a matter of time.

benson was never going to make it as an nfl running back anyway, he racked up a lot of college yardage but he is a lot like that dude that went to winsconsin, he lacks good speed and both have been busts.

what an idiot. Ced was one of my all time favorite horns. It breaks my heart to see him piss it all away, you have that much money and you are on a date rent a effin limo.

Damn. That was quick. Too bad his career will probably be over before he gets these problems figured out.

pretty clear that the rumors of him being at cancer at Texas may not have been just rumors. I'll always remember before the spring game in 2005 where VY was talking about commitment and how this team was, for the first time in his college career, committed to winning.

Can't these athletes figure out how much they have to lose when they do something to get in the newspapers?
The guy could easily afford a cab, a limo, or he could just get a sports fan in Austin to drive him home for free. Hard to understand.

Best thing to happen to him. Chicago doesn't truely want to win and that just isn't the atmosphere that fits him. The Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Bucs, and Dallas Cowboys have all been mentioned in being interested in picking him up.

Don't hate me for saying this but he was never that good to begin with. He had fast but not that fast. He was big but not that big. He didn't make people miss, he didn't run over people and he didn't outrun them. That was college.

In the NFL, he averaged about 4 ypc and never broke 650 yards in a season.

If Benson hadn't been a 5 star blue chip Texas high school legend, there wouldn't be nearly the adoration for him that exists on this board.

In four games against OU, Benson had 215 yards combined. That's 53 yards per game. In 2002 alone, Q Griffin had 250 yards on Texas.

Bob Stoops never once said "Oh ****. How are we going to stop Cedric Benson?"

If you know Cedric, it will probably take something like this to make him decent. I never would have drafted him high back then, but I would definitely pick him up on the cheap right now. He only works hard when he's motivated and now he should have the motivation.

Knock his off-season behavior or his NFL performance all you want, but there is no doubting Benson was a stud college RB. Hell, we thought he deserved to be a Heisman finalist, and I still think he deserved some consideration.

DEADHORSE is just trying to defend a dumb post now.

Any longhorn knows Ced didnt play at all his freshman year against OU and had 98 yards or so his last shot. OU was a great team, we were behind and went to different options. VY is GOD, and had the ball every down...and still only beat them ONE time.

If you are forming your ENTIRE opinion of Cedric against ONE team....well

That sounds VERY VERY Aggy

Edit: And we all know how Q. Griffin is terrorizing NFL Defenses...

I can't believe anyone would question his athletic ability. What needs to be question is his attitude. He needs it adjusted.

What a waste. I hope he can turn his career around, but it's not going to happen until Benson stops blaming everybody else for everything "gone bad" in his life and starts taking responsibility for his actions.
