Beard talking to Ole Miss

I don't need 3 years. I can tell you now wr made the right decision regardless of the success of Beard or the lack of success of our program.

Could it be one school values principles and one could care less about morals and values?

Charges were dropped and none of us will ever know what really happened. It's a shame to judge and fire someone because of an accusation. Texas fired him so it wouldn't tarnish the schools reputation and that's their decision to make. I'm certain there was something in his contract to allow this. To say that Ole Miss somehow holds a lower moral ground because they hired a coach who was accused and eventually cleared of a crime is silly to me.

That's not the point though. Texas didn't have to fire Beard. They chose to because of optics yet Ole Miss didn't have an issue with those optics. Did something change with the Beard situation I didn't hear about that would make it ok for Ole Miss to employ him and not Texas? Are societal views different from one state university to the next? Just curious.

still true in reality.

situation gets public. Company A fires Employee X. Employee X is good at what s/he does. Company B gets to give Employee X second shot.

lather/rinse/repeat. over and over.

that's reality.

While Beard was technically “cleared” of any crime, I think we all know something untoward happened that night we just don’t know how serious. It was not a good look for the school and keeping him on could have really come back to haunt the program. This could end up backfiring on Ole Miss at some point if something similar happens again. Texas did not want to take that chance.

It’s extremely unfortunate for both Beard and his fiancé and the school. We’re all just going to have to move on because what’s done is done. Beard has certainly made a big step in doing that.

People get fired for public facebook posts. BELIEVE ME.

Large organizations will not endure optics around violence, sexism, abuse, etc. unless the employee can prove they are blameless.

employment eligibility is not the same as legal guilt/innocence.

i'm quite confident that the investigation determined that the University believes that Beard did some stuff, prosecutable or not.

If Beard is worthy of being fired for X offense, he shouldnt be rehired by another school in the same exact capacity he was fired for not 2 months later. Its literally stupid.

He wasn't cleared of anything. The woman who he assaulted got paid to change her story. We know what happened, it's right there in the report. They made the right decision to let the woman beater go.

And yet, it happens everywhere in every industry.
IT’S CALLED “COWARDLY, COVER YOUR ***, COMPLIANCE OFFICERS WHO DO THE FIRING”. All they care about is how the decision looks on THEM, not whether the decision was best for everyone involved. It’s the exact opposite of trial by your peers.

He also wasnt convicted of anything.

So what. Any person with a brain knows that the police report was too detailed and specific for her to have just made it up. Again, it's blatantly obvious that he paid the woman he beat to change her story so there would be no charges filed.

So, let's say UT keeps Beard after charges are dropped knowing there was at least a slight physical altercation.
Then six months later he beats the crap out of her and puts her in the hospital.
Abused women drop the charges all the time.
It's part of the cycle.
UT made the right choice.

You’ll never convince some of the knuckleheads that UT made the right choice. They could give 2 shits about whatever clauses he had in his contract. This team made the sweet 16 and is a 4 pt favorite to beat Xavier yet we all are still jammering about Beard.

I think UT made the correct decision. I can't prove anything but I believe the officer's account was what he witnessed and heard. I also believe she recanted for two possible reasons: 1) The money 2) She might actually love the guy.

You should have stopped at 1.

Probably but love is a strange thing. It might be more a needy kind of love (as opposed to a groovy kind of love).

Hey, I've had a pretty similar situation. My live-in girl friend snapped on me and was throwing drinking glasses at me. The next day she was in horror over her actions. She kept saying, "I could have lost you over this." She did, but not right away.

1. This whole situation was/is a HUGE distraction to the Team & the Program (still is to the Program or this thread wouldn't be happening). Had the decision not been made to cut Beard loose I believe the Team/Program would be in total disarray. Game broadcasters still bring it up...were he not gone that's all they would talk about (IMHO). For the Team's sake (& the Program's), I believe the right decision was made. Beard is an outstanding coach & I hate what happened for all concerned, but I believe CDC & the UT brass made the right call.

2. Re: whether or not Randi & Chris get married, my understanding is that he gave her $2 MM(+/-) to drop charges & go away. I believe she is in Dallas & he's not.

That woman is his fiance hes been with for several years who lives with him, and its almost certain that she assulted him first.

If one thinks Beard is going to just beat her 6 months from now, I think its unlikely but ok fine, you win. Send him to prison now before he does it.

I know that the woman was his fiance. And if you know anything about women beaters, then you would know that this more than likely isn't the first time he beat her, just the first time it got out publicly.

He got off cheap if that is correct. Dallas and Oxford both lost on that deal.

Hands washed.

Ole Miss and Chris Beard could be made for each other.

We now have bigger fish to fry.

It's not proven he's a woman beater. They both have demonstrated questionable behavior and may both be crazy to stay together. Nobody, man or woman should hit anyone.
