Baylor game

We bring a sub-par performance to a road game against a team on the rise and get a 23rd-consecutive victory against said team, breaking the hearts of all the home fans who thought that tonight was definitely their night.

We're Texas.

We did get some key contributions for a variety of players in the second half.

Damian kept us in the game when no one else could score.
Pittman gave some good minutes.
GJ drove to the basket with abandon.
Balbay good minutes - no turnovers.
AJ some clutch shooting to get us a lead.
Atchley a couple free throws to ice.

Overall, it was ugly, but a win is a win.

I have a feeling there are going to be a few more ugly wins and losses this season.

Good job!

78-72... a win is a win. A sloppy first half - a lot of missed shots and some free throws. Horns improve to 5-1 in the conference and Barnes just got #23 in a row versus Baylor. His teams have not lost to da Bearz since he became HC.

It is definitely an easier part of the schedule that is upcoming, but no cake walk by any stretch of the imagination. KSU is very winnable, Mizzou is not even close to a gimme (even at home). Nebraska has always given Texas teams all kinds of fits on the road. But we just need wins and need to continue to improve.

this win was extra sweet if you were there.

the baylor fans were pumped the entire game... only to get their hearts ripped out at the end.

fun to watch.

I think Baylor may be the most undisciplined team I have ever seen. They take terribly ill advised shots and almost seem to want the highlight block as opposed to playing good defense. Don't get me wrong, they are extremely athletic but look poorly coached.

They remind me of some of penders running horns teams of yesteryear.

the announcers were driving me nuts. Seemed like huge baylor homers complaining for every foul for the bears. Also our guard play is terrible. Hell so is are frontcourt play most of the time. This team is the epitomy of grinding out ugly victorys.

Great win for the Horns! I happily had it dead wrong. I figured Jerrells would rise up and get the Baers over the hump. I only saw the highliights on ESPN. Snow plays hell with my satellite, but we must have guarded pretty well, right? It seems interesting to me to me that we seemingly play better on the road (unless the road ends in Norman this year). Last nights result bode well for Stillwater and Lincoln. Maybe Texas has few more than the 10 conference wins I've called for to date.

I thought Baylor would finally beat Texas, give the Horns credit, they do not have good guard play but they have heart.

Only AJ, Damion, and Gary seem to have confidence in their shots 15 feet and out. Either Hill or Chapman have got to develop a shot off the elbow. A couple of times Hill had a wide open jumper at 15 feet and never took it. I dont know if it is a confidence thing or what. But when Klotz and James Thomas developed that shot, it started to open up the offense a bit. You can see that with Gary Johnson, that guy is money from around 15 feet. He hit a couple and the D started to creep up closer to him and he was able to drive to the hole and pick up some fouls.

The free throws will get better...I hope. I bet my buddies last night that Chapmans free throw would thud off the back iron...lucky me. If there was ever a situation that we needed to miss a free throw at the end of the game to try and tip it back in, I would want Chapman at the line.

When Drew was hired, I thought he would be a good coach if he could recruit. Clearly, I had that backwards. A nice looking roster that consistently comes up short due to factors mentioned on this thread.

Baylor looked like five dudes picked off a playground court. They are very athletic, but geez, they play sloppy. Poor fundamentals.

Sorry if this has been addressed, I haven't seen the last couple games. Why no tie for Barnes? He is usually dressed immaculately.

I haven't seen a lot mentioned about Ward's play last night. I thought he was nails. His defense was very good against some outstanding and explosive Baylor guards. And he hit his free throws.

I have to admit the outcome was a surprise. I really thought I saw a double digit beat down coming along with a bunch of Baptist rushing the floor.

Tempest - I was one of the ones that thought we more likely to go 10-6 as opposed to compete for the conference title. But, the win against Baylor (which I feared as a loss helps).

At this point, 11 or 12 wins is a possibility, but there are potential losses on the schedule:

1) I don't think you can assume we'll be undefeated at home. Like it or not, OU is a probable loss. If not them, Mizzou definitely has a chance if we don't play well.

2) @OSU or @A&M - I put these in the same category of Baylor. Maybe we shouldn't lose them, but these guys (their fans) hate us. Heck, we haven't beaten the Aggies in C.S. in the last four tries.

Not trying to be pessimistic. Just realistic.

i hate hate hate the yellow three point line. what dumb you know what decided on that color?

its hard to see on tv. should be a dark green color.
