I addressed the "he refused to come out" argument before it was even used.

A college freshman is going to refuse to come out. A coach is paid money to make smart decisions. This was a terrible decision, I don't care how much of a gamer Ruffin is. That has nothing to do with it and using that as an excuse is weak.

And, for the record, older guys do better with higher pitch counts, not worse (older meaning at least 25). A college freshman's arm is much more vulnerable. That's why the smart pro clubs have younger guys on a pitch count, not older guys.

What happened to having a starter, middle reliever (short or long) and a closer? I know they are jockeying around this year to get the pitchers lined out, but not many pitchers period have enough of a rubber arm to throw 10 innings and throw again before a week. Relievers are known for having the ability to come in and pitch 1+ innings as needed. In college and in the Pros.
